Progress!

I finally plugged in our new desktop computer for the first time, seventy-one days after it arrived. It'll be days and days longer before I try to do anything useful with it. Amazing how an old man like me manages to keep so insanely busy!

Sheesh, it'll be out of warranty before you get it up and running smoothly!

Just curious: at what age did you start calling yourself an old man?

I bought a three-year service contract, but yeah, I know I'm being overly generous toward the manufacturer.

If I remember right, I started calling myself old on the Internet at the age of fifty-seven. I started calling myself old in real life at the age of twenty-five. I don't recall anyone disagreeing, even back then, except for _wind_spirit_. Nowadays, she's the only person who disagrees when I claim that I've been old so long that no one remembers when I was young. (I got the idea for that one from the story, The Terrible Old Man by H.P. Lovecraft. One of the guys who used to crash in my living room when he was in his teens once posted that story, years later, in its entirety, to an email-based discussion group as a kind of explanation of who I am.)

Well, I continue to disagree with you. I've met you and you don't seem like an old guy.

Opened the story in another tab but I'll have to read it later.

Thanks! Realistically speaking, I probably wont post much more than I've been. I live very fast, so I still won't have time; and the things I do and think make no conventional sense, so if I were to describe them, I'd seem to be raving incoherently. Come to think of it, I've probably done that here a few times already.
