Better all the time

My father came through surgery for his hip like a champ - 2" incision, 3 titanium screws and he's good to go. He should be released this afternoon - my beloved childhood home is a much pleasanter venue for a visit (although I made good progress on a sock for my Mother in the hospital yesterday). Oh good, I'm glad it was such an uninvasive surgery. I'm glad that you have brothers in the area to help out with the care and errands. Best wishes.

Well, if he were suddenly a good good patient all the time we would worry alien pod people had taken over his body. He has some difficulty dealing with frustration, and being stuck in bed would drive anyone insane. I'm hoping he will be interested enough in his own prospects for recovery that he will follow directions.

In an emergency, Mom can go hide in the basement for an hour or so.

i got a student to drive me to the store and help with the groceries. if he gets stir crazy when your mom's at work this might be helpful.

Yay, good news is great to read.

Does he like dvd's? Maybe he should watch all of Grey's Anatomy and get caught up in pop culture. Just joking.

You may be on to something. Not the Grey's Anatomy part, but I may offer him a portable DVD player for the first days when he is basically stuck in bed.
