We were talking about which of the wards was our least favourite and my colleague Andy said “the problem with the staff on mother & baby is that they’re women haters”, I said “don’t you mean men haters”, “oh, yeah” he replied.

The amount of raging hormones, pain, stress, fear and a dash of trauma sloshing around that ward wouldn't play a part at all I'd think. Yup, must be wome-, I mean men haters.

What was your least favorite btw?

This is staff we’re talking about not the patients, sorry, clients, they are just the most unhelpful bunch you could wish to come across. You walk into the ward office and it’s like you’re wearing a cloak of invisibility, courtesy costs nothing; after all we are all just trying to do our jobs, even us men.
And my own least favourite is eating disorders because I think it’s the ward where you can see a physical side to the mental illness.
And if you’re interested my favourite is the ‘deaf’ ward, always seems a jolly atmosphere and the staff are always pleasant and yes, quite a few of them are also deaf. My spirits are always lifted when I get a call to go to ‘Jasmine’ (the deaf ward).
