[CHARACTER INFO]
CHARACTER NAME: Skydive
FANDOM: Transformers: G1 Cartoon
CHRONOLOGY: Directly after the events in War Dawn
CLASS: Hero
SUPERHERO NAME: Mayday
ALTER EGO: Sydney Holeman, librarian

BACKGROUND:
Long ago, a race of mechanical life forms split themselves into two sides, one the Decepticons, the other the Autobots, and began a civil war that would span millions of years. A war that Cybertron, their home planet, eventually couldn’t support. Due to the scarcity of supplies needed simply for survival, the Decepticons set off in search of energy with the Autobots following close behind. When the Decepticons eventually found a planet - Earth - that was rich in their fuel (known as energon) the Autobots were there to intercept them. During the fight the Autobot’s ship was damaged and sent crashing through the atmosphere and into prehistoric Earth. The ship crashed into volcano and knocked the Autobots and Decepticons boarded on the ship into stasis, which they remained in for the next four million years.

In 1984, a chance explosion onlined the ship’s AI, which proceeded to repair the Decepticons. Using schematics of earthen vehicles, it granted the Cybertronians alt-modes. The Autobots were repaired shortly after. Before the ship began the Autobots’ repairs, the Decepticons had taken off in search of supplies, unaware that their enemies woud be following along shortly after. During this time both sides realized the planet was inhabited with sentient life.

The Decepticons, of course, cared not for the rights of a race that didn’t even reach the ankle of some of the larger members of their species, while the Autobots did. This shortly became just another thing for them to blow stuff up over.

PERSONAL BACKGROUND: Eventually, the Decepticons came to the decision (being mostly a military made up of an air force) that the Autobots could no longer be able to control the ground. Because of this, they created the Stunticons, a five-mech combiner team that were all made for ground domination. The team could merge into one large mechanism known as Menasor, which gave the Autobots an entirely new threat to worry about as the combined form of a combiner team exists to cause as much destruction as possible - and it’s really good at its job. In response, Optimus Prime built the Aerialbots on Cybertron. The Aerialbots are another combiner team made up of five jets that merge to form Superion. Skydive is a member of this team along with Slingshot, Fireflight, Air Raid, and their commander, Silverbolt.

The Decepticons are mainly an air force, while the Autobots are mostly ground troops. After being at war for so long it wasn’t surprising that some of the Autobots would show some prejudice against these new flyboys (the Autobots had exactly one jet stationed on Earth before the Aerialbots were created, and Skyfire too, for an example of their air force). Four-fifths of the Aerialbots weren’t all too impressed with the Autobots either, but especially not the humans, who disgusted them after the Aerialbots witnessed a television program where humans were laughing at another human's pain and embarassment. Four-fifths of the Aerialbots, Skydive included, abandoned for the Decepticons who they thought were much more sensible (and, you know, cool, and with really nice wings), leaving Silverbolt to manipulate them into coming back.

Naturally, the Aerialbots soon realized the error of their ways and returned in time to save the day. There were apologies from the Autobots for their prejudice and apologies from Slingshot (the biggest jerk who ever jerked) for being a…well, jerk. This did not, however, lessen the Aerialbots' fascination with the Decepticon jets. A few weeks later, after a stint where Skydive and Slingshot were stolen by plane-nappers, dismantled, and repaired by a prince hiding as a street urchin who happened to be really good at fixing planes and then fighting a giant purple griffin, they attacked a Decepticon trine. After returning to base and being chewed out for still finding the Decepticon jets awesome, the Aerialbots were sent on a mission to Cybertron. The Decepticons have a time machine hidden in the back just for such occasions, and they use it to set up a trap for the Aerialbots. Starscream, Thundercracker, and Skywarp ambushed the Aerialbots on Cybertron until Slingshot, curious, surrendered, wanting to ask them some questions. Silverbolt’s the only one who didn’t surrender as well, and he promptly reported the rest of the Aerialbots’ apparent betrayal to Prime. Feigning friendliness, Starscream lured the Aerialbots into the time machine. Silverbolt, coming to drag the Aerialbots back to the Autobots too, ended up on the pad ust when it was activated, sending the Aerialbots back through time. As it went, the Aerialbots had a fun, educational jaunt through history (but not really), and came back hating the Decepticons. All was well in the world.

Except for the war, of course.

PERSONALITY:
Modest, intelligent, cautious, perfectionistic, and responsible. Skydive’s the quiet kid in school who always sat in the back of the classroom with his nose in a book, diligently followed the rules, made valedictorian, and also happened to be the star ace of the basketball team. He’s incapable of accepting anything less than perfection from himself, and nothing drives him crazier than someone else not putting their best into what they do, too. This can cause problems because Skydive honestly doesn’t realize how smart or skilled he can be, and doesn’t grasp that just because someone doesn’t catch on to something as fast as he does doesn’t mean they’re slacking off. Reversely, when someone else catches on to something faster than Skydive, that irritation is turned on himself.

Most of his frustration comes from being used to having to respond to life-threatening situations in a split second, and having to rely his proficiency in his skills to survive. Skydive always knows exactly what he’s doing at all times, why he’s doing it, and how he’s doing it. Every twitch of a wing flap is carefully controlled, every change in wind direction and speed taken into account, every shift of a cloud. Skydive doesn’t leave anything to chance. Even his subconscious responses to stimuli have been carefully noted, so that should something happen that forces them to appear he’s not caught so off-guard. Shortly put, Skydive’s something of a control freak, and he hates it when something happens that he doesn’t account for.

Skydive’s friendly though, even for all that, if a bit awkward about social situations that aren’t formal in manner. Should someone make the mistake of showing an interest in a subject Skydive’s passionate about however, (like history and aerial warfare through the ages) then all awkwardness is forgotten and he will talk their ears off. Both of them. Loves knowledge and sharing knowledge and putting his own knowledge into action, and just likes the feel of knowing things. He especially likes reenacting particularly interesting or potentially useful maneuvers he reads about or sees shown, even if he has a tendency to hurt himself when pushing himself past his limits. Still, for all of his skill and intelligence, and for all of his training, Skydive would prefer not to fight. He just wants to be able to practice and learn without the threat of his or another’s death hanging over his head if he doesn’t get things right. He sticks around because he is, above all, a mostly rational being and realizes that the only way he’s going to get to be able to live in peace is if he helps win the war.

At this point in time, Skydive’s still only resigned to being an Autobot instead of accepting it. Starscream’s betrayal has turned him off Decepticons (mostly) completely and left him a bit suspicious of people for the time being. And, though he sometimes wishes for neutrality, he realizes that it’s completely beyond his reach. Doesn’t see any other option than the Autobots, so an Autobot he is.

But, of course, there's not much of a war to be fought in The City...

POWER:
-Within the limits of his body, the ability to mimic perfectly any physical movement he sees done, even if he only sees it done once. (semi-canon: he’s able to reenact maneuvers he sees performed only once)
-Can crumble any object he touches - breaks their molecular bonds. (not canon power, but does in canon have a gun that does the same thing)

FINAL NOTES ABOUT YOUR CHARACTER:
At the time of his pull point, Skydive is only a few weeks old. I’m saying three. He may have the mental age of someone in their late teens/early twenties but he doesn’t have much in the way of experience yet. Especially since most of his time was spent fighting a war. There are things he just doesn’t know, and even more that he’s heard or read about but doesn’t fully understand because he’s never experienced it. He’s going to be rather naïve about some things.
