Character survey. Very long. C&C 'verse mainly

Dec 06, 2009 13:20

1. Describe the character's height and build. Is he heavyset, thin, short, rangy?

He's a giant robot.

As a human though, he's short (5'5.5" or thereabouts) and is thin but not stick-like. He's fit and it shows, he's just not muscular.

2. How old is he?

Hah! Three weeks since creation. Mentally he's in his late teens/early twenties.

3. Describe his posture. Does he carry himself well or does he slouch?

He carries himself well, but he doesn't have perfect posture. Has a bit of a slouch. As a robot...well, he has robot posture.

4. How is his health? Is he fit or out of shape? Any illnesses or conditions? Any physical disabilities?

As a robot, Skydive's in perfect shape. Newly built, and all that.

As a human, Skydive's fit and healthy. He does have a bit of a weak stomach, though.

5. How does he move? Is he clumsy, graceful, tense, fluid?

In either body he's graceful, but tense. A controlled grace.

6. How attractive is this character physically? How does he perceive himself in the mirror?
(How the heck are you supposed to answer whether or not someone's attractive? I hate this question.)

As a robot, Skydive's not too bad looking. I suppose. (And that's it, everything from here down is his human capeandcowl unless specified otherwise)

As a human his attractiveness varies person to person. He looks Korean, he's short and fit, but he's also a bit geeky looking. When Skydive looks in a mirror he sees a human. Nothing more, nothing less.

7. Describe his complexion. Dark, light, clear, scarred?

Clear, dark complexion

8. Describe his hair: color, texture, style.

Er. Skydive's hair is black, but in the right light it can look dark brown. It's a bit course, and though it's not long it's not particularly short, either. Also gets rather messy if not kept under tight control, which means, since Skydive doesn't care much about his hair, it's usually rather messy.

9. What color are his eyes?

Dark, dark brown - they look almost black. Sometimes though, in the right light, they seem to have a touch of blue to them.

10. Does the character have any other noteworthy features?

Not particularly.

11. What are his chief tension centers?

His neck.

12. What is the character's wardrobe like? Casual, dressy, utilitarian? Bright colors, pastels, neutrals? Is it varied, or does he have six of the same suit?

Currently he has a t-shirt, the long-sleeved black shirt he arrived in, and two pairs of jeans.

Once he actually starts buying clothes, Skydive will have a casual, boring wardrobe, mostly in neutral colors. A few durable coats, a few sweaters, a few undecorated t-shirts, and a few pairs of jeans. Also a pair of shorts and a sweater-vest.

13. Do his clothes fit well? Does he seem comfortable in them?

His clothes are going to be a bit too big for him except for the ones he arrived in, not enough to be baggy but still a bit large, but that's what makes him comfortable in them.

14. Does he dress the same on the job as he does in his free time? If not, what are the differences?

Likely not. Likely he'll dress far more formal for his job.

15. You knew it was coming: Boxers, briefs or commando?

...Boxers.

Speech
1. What does this character's voice sound like? High-pitched, deep, hoarse?

Skydive's voice is on the higher side of the scale, and clear.

2. How does he normally speak? Loud, soft, fast, evenly? Does he talk easily, or does he hesitate?

Skydive has a very delibrate way of speaking, soft and even. Certain. He doesn't talk easily, and there's usually a bit of pause before he speaks where he's sorting out what he's going to say.

3. Does the character have a distinct accent or dialect? Any individual quirks of pronunciation? Any, like, you know, verbal tics?

Skydive sounds educated and has a very formal way of speaking, moreso when he's uncomfortable or agitated. His formality relaxes when he's excited or comfortable, though.

4. What language/s does he speak, and with how much fluency?

Skydive can speak English fluently and Autobot only a little less so. He also knows a few phrases in many other Earthen languages (such as "please relocate so you don't get squished") and he has a small store of possibly incorrectly translated Decepticon. Mostly insults, because he was curious to know what we being yelled at him mid-battle.

5. Does he switch languages or dialects in certain situations?

No, though he has a tendency to use Cybertronian curses in place of English ones when very upset.

6. Is he a good impromptu speaker, or does he have to think about his words?

Think. Skydive definitely has to think about his words.

7. Is he eloquent or inarticulate? Under what circumstances might this change?

Eloquent, though that typically changes when experiencing some strong emotion. Any strong emotion, unless he has time to gather himself.

Mental and Emotional
1. How intelligent is this character? Is he book-smart or street-smart?

Skydive is book-smart and very, very intelligent. He doesn't lack common sense, though.

2. Does he think on his feet, or does he need time to deliberate?

Skydive usually has a plan prepared for everything that can happen in a certain situation, so though it may sometimes appear that he's thinking quickly, he does need time to deliberate. Anything that truly catches him off guard usually causes him to freeze up or panic.

3. Describe the character's thought process. Is he more logical, or more intuitive? Idealistic or practical?

Skydive is a practical person with a far more logical than intuitive mindset. There is A and there is B and when added together they make C. Doesn't mind having things he can't explain logically though, so long as he has a way to react to it and explain it to himself.

4. What kind of education has the character had?

Most everything Skydive knows that isn't basic Cybertronian knowledge or military-based is self-taught. Everything else that is basic Cybertronian knowledge and military-based was taught to him by the other Autobots and incomplete as Skydive wasn't around long enough to learn everything.

5. What are his areas of expertise? What, if anything, is he interested in learning more about?

His function is an aerial warfare specialist - he's his team's strategist, basically. Knows a lot about history - any sort of history - and he has a bit of an interest in physics.

6. Is he an introvert or an extrovert?

Introvert by definition, he's just not used to being alone at all so has a tendency to poke at other people for some sort of contact.

7. Describe the character's temperament. Is he even-tempered or does he have mood swings? Cheerful or melancholy? Laid-back or driven?

Skydive' even-tempered as can be, but not particularly laid-back. Can be rather uptight at most times - a perfectionist. He may also sometimes seem like a brooder, but he's not. He just likes to pick at things until he has a solution or he's otherwise satisfied, and then lets it go to find something else to pick at. Is rather driven.

8. How does he respond to new people or situations? Is he suspicious, relaxed, timid, enthusiastic?

Curious, mostly., but also cautious and reserved. Usually feels a bit awkward interacting with people he doesn't know but tries not to let that show by asking lots of questions.

9. Is he more likely to act, or to react?

React.

10. Which is his default: fight or flight?

If he's caught completely off-guard, then flight.

Usually though, it's to fight.

11. Describe the character's sense of humor. Does he appreciate jokes? Puns? Gallows humor? Bathroom humor? Pranks?

For all his formality and uptightness, Skydive does have a sense of humor. He was on a team with Air Raid for crying out loud. He has a distant appreciation for pranks, though won't pull one himself unless invited in on one or otherwise thinks it's "necessary". Sarcasm, gallows humor, and jokes based on obscure history and literary sources never fail to amuse him. Bathroom humor irritates him, and puns he doesn't find particularly funny.

Skydive himself is a silent snarker.

12. Does the character have any diagnosable mental disorders? If yes, how does he deal with them?

Not particularly. At least not diagnosable.

13. What moments in this character's life have defined him as a person?

the Autobots' original responses to him and his team. His first experience with prejudice.

His first taste of reading and history.

Starscream's betrayal.

14. What does he fear?

Things outside of his control, things that he can't understand or find an explanation for.

Failure. Because it means he wasn't good enough, didn't know enough, wasn't fast enough.

15. What are his hopes or aspirations?

To be able to learn without the constraints of having to focus mainly on what's useful for the war effort.

16. What is something he doesn't want anyone to find out about him?

That he still admires Starscream and has a crush on him *ahem*. That what's important to him in another person isn't so much personality or moral standards as it is skill and them being good at what they do. Finds that shameful and wrong.

That he doesn't like Optimus Prime all that much.

Relationships
1. Describe this character's relationship with his parents.

...Optimus Prime? Well, he's Skydive's commanding officer. That's about it.

2. Does the character have any siblings? What is/was their relationship like?

Skydive has four "siblings". They have a fairly close relationship, since for awhile they were the only other people Skydive felt he could rely on. Also, they're a combiner team; they have to be close, at least in some way.

He gets along best with Slingshot though, and Silverbolt.

3. Are there other blood relatives to whom he is close? Are there ones he can't stand?

No. He doesn't much like Optimus Prime, but he can stand him and respects him as leader of the Autobots.

4. Are there other, unrelated people whom he considers part of his family? What are his relationships with them?

No.

5. Who is/was the character's best friend? How did they meet?

Skydive's best friend is Slingshot, his "brother". They were created together.

6. Does he have other close friends?

Every other one of his teammates.

7. Does he make friends easily, or does he have trouble getting along with people?

Skydive doesn't have problems with other people, and he doesn't like being alone so he'll automatically try and reach out for people when he is, but he does have problems connecting with them. Finds it easier to have acquaintences rather than friends.

8. Which does he consider more important: family or friends?

Family/friends. They're one and the same for him right now. If you're not "family" you're not a friend.

9. Is the character single, married, divorced, widowed? Has he been married more than once?

Single.

10. Is he currently in a romantic relationship with someone other than a spouse?

No.

11. Who was his first crush? Who is his latest?

Starscream, then Silverbolt a little and still Starscream.

12. What does he look for in a romantic partner?

Skill and intelligence - or someone who is at least insightful or interesting enough to make up for a lack of intelligence. Personality-wise most likely someone like one of his teammates, who he feels comfortable around and talking to.

Possibly. There are exceptions to everything and Skydive's still developing his tastes.

13. Does the character have children? Grandchildren? If yes, how does he relate to them? If no, does he want any?

No and no.

14. Does he have any rivals or enemies?

Every Decepticon ever. Starscream.

15. What is the character's sexual orientation? Where does he fall on the ExtremelyKinsey scale?

Gender means nothing to him; he was a giant robot. Bisexual.

16. How does he feel about sex? How important is it to him?

He doesn't. It's not important at all since he hasn't even considered it before.

17. What are his turn-ons? Turn-offs? Weird bedroom habits?

I have not thought about this one.

Beliefs
1. Do you know your character's astrological (zodiac of choice) sign? How well does he fit type?

Unknown when he was created. I guess I'd make him an Aquarius? Except he's very much a follower, so...

2. Is this character religious, spiritual, both, or neither? How important are these elements in his life?

Neither. They aren't important in his life at all.

3. Does this character have a personal code of morals or ethics? If so, how did that begin? What would it take to compromise it?

Don't harm or kill anyone who isn't the enemy; keep humans out of it unless they get themselves involved and make themselves the enemy. He was created to be a soldier, so he has no qualms about killing or harming people if it needs to be done. He doesn't classify the enemy as 'Decepticon' because he saw the Autobots to be as much of a potential threat as the Decepticons almost since he was created.

It'll only be compromised if there is no other choice, or if someone he cares about or his mission is in danger because of it.

4. How does he regard beliefs that differ from his? Is he tolerant, intolerant, curious, indifferent?

Curious! Skydive will question beliefs different than his down to their marrow, and he's extremely tolerant unless you try to push your belief off onto him or attack his own beliefs first. Then he's vicious.

5. What prejudices does he hold? Are they irrational or does he have a good reason for them?

He's not prejudiced against the Autobots, but he doesn't like them as a group all that much because they were prejudiced against him first.

He was prejudiced against humans for a good while (though he's mostly over that) after seeing some of their television. Thought they were a disgusting, primitive, sadistic species for a while there. Still has his doubts about them, but now doesn't mind them too much.

Daily Life
1. What is the character's financial situation? Is he rich, poor, comfortable, in debt?

Military on a military base. He doesn't have a financial situation.

As he is now though, in the City, you could call him poor though he's rather comfortable.

2. What is his social status? Has this changed over time, and if so, how has the change affected him?

Lower middle class? Lower class? He doesn't have much social status and it doesn't concern him. At all.

3. Where does he live? House, apartment, trailer? Is his home his castle or just a place to crash? What condition is it in? Does he share it with others?

He lives in the MAC! Apartment-type-dorm-thing. It's bare and in decent condition. It's his den. He drags that day's kill (books) back there to devour in the night. He doesn't mind it. It's shelter.

4. Besides the basic necessities, what does he spend his money on?

Er. He barely spends his money on the basic necessities. Books.

5. What does he do for a living? Is he good at it? Does he enjoy it, or would he rather be doing something else?

Nothing yet - going to try out the training for secretarial work, though. He'll like it just fine.

6. What are his interests or hobbies? How does he spend his free time?

Reading! Also watching history documentaries. Wikipedia. The library. Trying to figure out what he can or can't eat. Keeping an eye on the news. Figuring out the limits of his new body.

7. What are his eating habits? Does he skip meals, eat out, drink alcohol, avoid certain foods?

He skips meals, though he's trying to stop that. He eats whatever he can manage to not burn (ramen!), and avoids eating Chinese food like it's the plague.
