"It's all right, sugar. I won't bite you."
She smiled; her teeth a shock of white against her tanned skin, and Walter was thankful for that. The contrast gave him something to focus on besides...everything else.
At least until she leaned forward. Suddenly all Walter could see was the deep space of her cleavage, and the swelled half-moons of her breasts. After several wide-eyed seconds he tore his attention away, and only then did he realize that she'd been watching him the entire time.
The tips of his ears burned.
"You did a good job," She said. She sounded amused.
He nodded as best as he could with his head tucked down into his collarbone. She swung her legs (so, so long) over the end of the chair and sat up to survey her backyard.
"Huh. You even avoided the marigolds. You know, I've had three different kids in here to mow my lawn, and not a one of 'em figured out a way to push that thing without lopping a few of the heads off."
Walter straightened.
"It's not difficult, Ms. Jupiter." He said. "It just takes time. Other kids are too easily distracted."
"Yes. I suppose that's true. The young men especially. Honestly, I don't know where their minds go."
She canted her head. Then she flinched, squinted, and cupped a hand over her forehead.
"Walter, could you be a sweetheart and move a touch to the right? The sun is in my eyes and-- no, a little more. There. Perfect. That's wonderful."
Walter crossed his arms over his stomach and shifted on his feet. "Do you need anything else, Ms. Jupiter?"
Her breasts again. Out of the sun's exposure they seemed more defined. Shadows flowed over and between them into that dark channel he was still trying very hard not to contemplate.
"No. I think that's it. Like I said, you did good."
She leaned over the side of the chair and resurfaced with her wallet. Slender fingers pressed a smooth twenty dollar bill into his clammy hand.
"Very good. If I need anything else...taken care of, I'll be sure to call you."
He swallowed. "Would be happy to help, Ms. Jupiter.
"I'm glad."
"I won't bite," she'd said, but at that moment she looked like she wanted to swallow him whole.
"I'd--I'd better be going, Ms. Jupiter." He stammered. "Will see you in two weeks. Tell Laurel I said hello."
"I will. Bye, Walter. And thanks."
She touched his arm, not long enough to be indecent, but long enough to send a flutter through his stomach that would end in something unpleasant if he didn't leave soon. He shoved the money in his pocket, bobbed his head at her one last time, then strode away.

The kid was practically magenta by the time he made it to the yard gate. Sally retrieved her lemonade from the side of the lawn chair and smirked around her straw.
A few minutes later, Laurie wandered out. She tipped up her sunglasses to squint in the direction Walter had gone, then at her mother.
"Scared him away, huh?"
"I don't know what you're talking about."
"You do this every time, mother."
"Do what?"
Laurie sighed.
"Mom. Please. If you want to sit out here and watch the neighbor kids to make sure they don't chop up your dumb flowers or whatever, fine. But do you really have to do it while wearing a bathing suit? We don't even have a pool!"
"So? I'm motivating them. Now you know, Laurie, if you wanted to you could always come out here and take my place..."
"Moth-er!"
