What Do We Want? Uh...um...Feminism?

We can argue about this if you like, but I do not identify with the female protagonist when I read novels. The female lead is not my placeholder. I don't have a vicarious experience of her life. I know I'm not walking in her shoes. I am aware I am reading about someone other than myself. I'll admit I do respond to the protagonist, but my response ( Read more... )

I should write a story based on me and my hubby. Mid-forties, hot internet romance, he the troubled hero with two traumatized kids, me the heart of gold crazy lady who falls madly in love with him even though we lived 2000 miles away...

It's really quite a real life romance story. Shocked the heck out of me - never would have believed it could have happened to me of all people. Fat 42 year old spinsters aren't supposed to get a happily ever after. Boy, did I fool'em!

You know the adage, "write what you know?" You've got a ready made story. Just change the names to protect the innocent.
