Once again I find it almost impossible to make the time to update this thing, but I wanted to share a bit of unhappy news from yesterday morning. Apparently, my wife was very rudely awakened when an EF1 tornado caused a large part of the ash tree that keeps refusing to die to go from my front yard into my bedroom. Luckily, my wife only had some ( Read more... )

Good heavens! I'm glad she's okay and that it wasn't so much worse!

*hugs*

You know it kind of sucks when things like this happen while I am about 8000 miles away and can't do anything about it. (Not that I could have done anything about the storm if I had been there, but you know what I mean regarding the aftermath.) Strange thing is that the other time my house had storm damage I was at boy scout summer camp with my son when the house got hit.

All things considered though, I have been rather lucky living in the middle of tornado alley, in almost 30 years of living there, I have had storm damage in June of 1992 and May of 2010, not bad statistics considering the possiblities. I have also been much luckier than some consider the potential magnitude of such things.

One must always learn to keep such things in perspective I suppose.

I can imagine. It's hard not being there to help and calm the fears of those that are.

You are lucky, I spose. I'm not sure I could ever live in that area. Tornadoes scare the crap out of me!

At least in Okieland, we have good storm prediction and early warning systems in place. Which could be a bit of a double edge sword, as many people get very blase about the warnings since they happen so frequently. However, no where in the country is immune to potential tornados and when they happen rarely like the recent one in Buffalo, people haven't a clue what to do.

One spins the wheel and takes their chances regardless of where they live I think.

Really glad that the damage was not any more serious than it was. I have a few friends in OK and all are doing well. It must be frustrating that you weren't there.

Hope you are doing well with the job. Keep us posted on how your wife is doing with the clean up.
