The ego exists by conflict and in time.

In the remembered and imagined pasts and futures, the ego seeks out its conflicts to define itself. While looking into the pasts and futures the ego cannot see the present moment.

Being in the present moment is the essence of meditation. Being in the present moment is being without conflict, and out of time

Words and thoughts and feelings.

The observer observes.

The mind grasps.

The watcher watches the grasping.

Why is it so easy for people to see what is going on in other people’s lives and so hard to see the same problem in their own lives? Because when you are inside the mental box created by the ego, you cannot see your situation as clearly as when you look at it from the outside.
