Absolutely. Sounds like the geneolgy (sp?) equivalent of finding the tub where the mysterious yellow pieces from the jigsaw puzzle got put, and realising that all that section belongs over there which means those bits go up and along so that must be part of the ... etc etc.
(That was a much better explanation in my head)
