I am glad there were parts of the game you enjoyed.

I do lack a little sympathy for elements of Flambard that found the battle uninteresting. It wasn't aimed at Flambard. I believe some rumours circulated but it was (without straying into too much detail) ultimately a political matter. We got 90 or so volunteers by my count, which was not bad, and was enough to provide a tough fight for two colonies - and that went to the key target groups for IC reasons. I am aware there are treaties etc, but I remain wry about the number of people at Maelstrom who manage to roleplay their way out of having fun.

Equally, although there was a "crew attack" (I have avoided the use of the word monster where possible), we were more intelligent than your average LRP event monster including executing targets and ensuring the safety of the Queen. Anyone who treated us like LT undead were always likely to be disappointed, though the myrmidion/basilisk mentality did allow for actions contrary to self-preservation.

True the Fest LRP world over.

If I could think of a way round this, I'd be a happier man.

I was at a fest game not long ago where the actual gods came and actually shouted at you if you weasled, and where they had people crucified just to make a point. You should try it ;)

It'll never catch on.

"There are worlds out there where the sky is burning, where the sea is asleep and the rivers dream; people made of smoke and cities made of song. Somewhere there's danger, somewhere there's injustice, and somewhere else the tea is getting cold."

I don't disagree with any of that, and I'm not criticising how the people who went to play Hive Majestic actually went about it. I just think that PD got it wrong, and hope they don't continue in this direction.
