I am sure like my family yours too has black and white, perhaps sepia toned photographs of people from another time. These might have switched hands a couple of times down the decades and their original keepers are long gone.

I love browsing through old albums, and I've often marveled at the fact that two generations from now, there probably won't be ANY hard copy albums. When this first hit me, I went out and got a few digital prints from Walgreens :D On the other hand, you *have* to agree that lugging albums around when you move countries is a royal pain.
And what do you think will happen to good ol' paper books? *shudder*

Back to the post, despite your optimism I wonder if anybody has a practical solution to the problem of preserving bits across multiple generations.
