Killer app?

I  (finally?) saw this VMware's virtual appliances idea and am so completely blown away because of:
1.The thought that I have wasted so much time installing and configuring stuff before this happened
2.The customized virtual apps, waiting in the wings, which won't be as conceptually new perhaps as they will be easy to use.

Actually I am not so sure ( Read more... )

Yeah, this does seem interesting..
Did you try any of them?

About te second part.. I think that it'll just help us do the old easier. Most of the appliances that are listed there are taken from existing stuff and just built for VMware..
I don't think there is too much new development.

The story is twisted....I tried installing VMPlayer on my lab machine...but needed root access...so no go. "But wait!! I have virtual machines of my own with root account" I realize, so I decided to run a virtual machine inside another...but alas exceeded my quota on the server :-( Just got lazy...should get down to trying it.

The interesting part is I am interviewing with a team in VMWare which want to leverage this appliance thingy for nifty security solutions...thus the question :-)
