I talked to a recruiter today. Apparently, you have an obligation to the military for 8 years, no matter how long your tour is. So should I sign up for a 2 year tour, the stop loss program, or a major mobilization could call me back in for the next 6 years after my tour. I don't know if I'm ready for that kind of commitment, especially since I ( Read more... )

Over 4,000 American soldiers have been killed in Iraq, and over 15,000 have been wounded.
• Nearly 100,000 civilians have been killed in Iraq as a result of the U.S. invasion.

I swore up and down that when I finally got out of the Army, I was going to picket recruiting offices to keep stupid kids from making the same decisions I did. Instead, I got caught up with real life, and haven’t really looked back. But I decided to build this list. And here you go, ten reasons NOT to join the Army ( ... )

Well you could be killed for no reason by a person you never even saw had a bead on you or by a random bomb. You could be sent to kill someone else for no reason, who might not even see you coming or know why you were killing them. In the airforce, you might be in a plane and drop a bomb that due to no fault of your own goes off course and kills a bunch of civilians. Or goes off course and kills a bunch of your own countrymen. The pay is not good. You lose the biggest gift you have, which is your freedom. Even if you decide not to play anymore they can call you back again and again for whatever reason, whether you like it or not. No matter who the President is, you have to follow what he or she says to do, agree with it or not. After you kill some people you don't even know and begin to realize what that feels like.. or maybe after a bunch of your buddies get killed and you get to feel what that feels like, you could develop PTSD and be an emotional handicap the rest of your life... shall I go on?

Hmmmm, all valid reasons not to throw away years of your life, and possibly your life. A HUGE mistake, and so unfair to put your family in a position whereby we might one day have to attend your military funeral after your completely senseless death. Your senseless death destroying our lives forever! Good times Sam! Thanks for the aggravation. How can someone so intelligent be so unintelligent at the same time? Just my opinion, but then again who am i? Oh yeah your father who loves you more than life itself and whose heart you are breaking.

Why the army? Dumbest people I've ever met in my entire life was in the army. Fellow soldiers and officers too. Have you taken your ASVAB test yet? You will score high and the army will be shitting themselves to sign you up. They'll say anything to get you ( ... )
