Ices taste better in the wintertime. Crisper.

Wedding planning has to be the least pleasant part of the whole business.

And no plans.

Yes, exactly! Plus I keep the house warm enough to justify it...

I'm sort of enjoying it, but I'm also slowly realizing this is deeper water than I quite realized.

Is that how you prefer things?

Some modern innovations I am truly developing a taste for; that's one of them. I'm delighted to hear your winter's going so well.

I can't afford to make any witty remarks here, so you'll have to imagine all the things I could have said.

And, well, that's one part of your world I'm not embracing. Marking these things - if we had the time to - was a little more sacred in my upbringing and I took my time in the clergy shockingly seriously. Despite my very best efforts, it'd feel too crass to try it your way and I can't do it mine any more. (That was a long-winded 'sort of', if you'd rather skip to the end.)

What might the others be, out of curiosity?

Does this make you one of my shoulder angels? (Good/bad.)

I don't think I actually knew that you were part of the clergy! But that makes sense--New Year's is basically secular here in America.
