I still write letters. It's been some time since I had the occasion to write a love letter, of course, but I used to write those, too. Mine probably weren't that interesting.

Probably? But you're so well-spoken, I bet you could've done a lot with that.

Well, all right, interesting, yes, but let's bear in mind these were letters I was mildly concerned about falling into the hands of my intended's father. The tall gentleman with the sword who outranked me in the Order.

The last one was a bit disturbing, as I recollect, but I lost it somewhere in Lamorkand and she never saw it, so far as I know.

Did that ever happen? The father finding out, that is.

If I wrote letters (I don't know who I'd write to but that's not the point, is it?) no one would be able to read them because my handwriting is terrible. I don't even write notes during class--everything is typed.

Do you think that the electronic medium makes words any less powerful or sincere or honest? What if we use some funky font that imitates legible penmanship?

Oh, and um...I really like the photos you post. They're kind of why I read your journal.

I don't think it makes them less sincere, but I think there is a degree of the artificial with a computerized medium. You can intuit more feeling from a person's handwriting, the way letters change with tones: bunched together with feeling, or spread out as the writer tries his or her best to pose them carefully, and furthermore it all generally takes more effort. A letter is more easily customized, more malleable, and more varied. It's organic, and easily destroyed. I don't know if handwriting things is per se better, because everyone has their own personal tastes, but those are the things I prefer about letters.

Thank you! I'm by no means a photographer, so that's very gratifying to hear. I'm Hasibe, as you may have picked up.
