my philosophy of dental hygiene

Yesterday I was shopping for plain-Jane, non suped-up toothpaste (sans whitening and tartar control) (do you know how frustrating it is to find plain toothpaste?) and I spotted tubes of Aquafresh with yuppie space-age silver packaging. One of the flavors was called "Empowermint."

The dopey, dopey pun struck me as being so perfectly ridiculous that ( Read more... )

I did that the other day. I read the new slogan of "There's an M&M in everyone. Find yours." and took it a little too literally and burst out laughing. My imagination just kept going and going ...

Suzanne, you are not alone. The world is too funny to be taken too seriously. We need to laugh at puns that silly. I find myself giggling in public all of the time.

I usually hate puns, hence, why I hate Sex and the City, but this one hit just the right spot.

Also, the best pun ever was in a less-than accurate translation of Beowulf:
"Grendel's lunches were rather plain-ish,
so, for breakfast he feasted on Danish."

P.S. As I was titling this entry I first typed "pus of fun" instead of "puns of fun" and snickered loudly at the public library.

Shit, now I gotta go buy me some Empowermint.

I'm really sorry I didn't call you back last weekend-- I got back from Kzoo Friday and was exhausted, Saturday was entirely taken up by my Grandma's 75th birthday party (got up, started cleaning, people arrived around 1, people left well after dark, I slept my ass off), then Sunday I had just enough time to pack up my stuff before Sandi brought me back to EL. It makes me sad because I miss you. ;_;

No problem. I was feeling bad about not really seeing anyone over Spring Break due to conferences and all the other things I do for my work for which I do not get reimbursed.

Old people birthdays! How sweet. My grandpa just turned 75, too. He was born the same year as J.C., Johnny Cash.

Fair enough, but you'll get your own Spring Break when your kids do. When's that?

Your grandpa and my grandma should hang out! Except that she's kind of a crazy old bat-- case in point, she spontaneously busted out The N Word at the party (much to my dismay). Sweet? Not so much.
