end of the year survey

Dec 18, 2007 17:31

Since I didn't write anything in here for about half a year, hopefully this'll help to fill in some of the missing pieces...

1. Where did you begin 2007?
At Jenny's apartment with my CMES cohort.

2. What was your status by Valentine's Day?
HAH. Yeah, let's move on to number 3 now...

3. Were you in school (anytime this year)?
All the time.

4. How did you earn your money?
By teaching kids about art and preparing for a future career in museum education. Fun!

5. Did you have to go to the hospital?
For myself? No. For friends and family? Twice.

6. Did you have any encounters with the police?
Actually, yeah... once. Mistakes were definitely made on both sides, but it was all one big misunderstanding that happened at the worst possible time.

7. Where did you go on holiday?
Maryland and New York.

8. What did you purchase that was over $1000?
Does my M.A. count for this?

9. Did you know anybody who got married?
Nick! And now I think he's having a baby, according to Facebook. Many congrats to him and his wife, but now I feel old!

10. Did you move anywhere?
Nope.

11. What concerts/shows did you go to?
I went to seven or eight classical music concerts during the Grant Park Music Festival over the summer, and just a few weeks ago, I went to the Chicago Symphony Orchestra for the first time, to attend a Ravel and Shostakovich concert. They're doing Rachmaninoff in mid-January, so it won't be that long before I'll be going for a second time!

12. Are you registered to vote?
I used to be registered in New York, but two years ago, I switched over to Maryland.

13. Who do you want to win Big Brother?
Is that show really still on?! Moving on...

14. Where do you live now?
Hyde Park, Chicago.

15. Describe your birthday.
I turned 23! My friends and I celebrated it at this cute and artsy restaurant downtown called the Grand Lux Cafe. They even gave us our own dinner "coordinator." He greeted us at the beginning of the night and didn't show his face again until we were leaving, but whatever he did to "coordinate" the night, it must have been good because we all had a great time!

16. What's one thing you thought you'd never do but did in 2007?
Around Halloween, I went apple picking and ran through a corn maze in rural Indiana. It was only then that I truly felt I was experiencing the Midwest in all its corn-filled glory.

17. What has been your favorite moment?
I'll come back and answer this one later.

Edit (12/28/07): So I kept thinking about this question and soon realized that I could go on forever but still be nowhere near picking just one favorite moment. One that really stands out, though, is the time when I got a frantic phone call from Bob, asking me where I was and if I could come help him out with something. I thought he said he was trapped in the closet, but when I got down there a few minutes later, I saw that he was actually trapped behind it. He and Mike had tried to move one of his wardrobes down to the lower level of his room, but they hadn't taken into account the lower ceiling that would eventually block it and leave Mike on the lower level and Bob on the top, still holding onto one end of the wardrobe and physically stuck in the corner of his room. And of course, that was the one time that I didn't have my camera with me! Both of them probably would have de-tagged themselves once I uploaded the photo, but still. I forget exactly when it was that this happened... sometime in April or May, maybe?

18. What's something you learned about yourself?
The entry I posted before this one says it all.

19. Any new additions to your family?
My brother's wife, and my cousin's new daughter (though I can't remember if she was born in late 2006 or early 2007).

20. What was your best month?
Probably May.

21. What music will you remember 2007 by?
"Total Eclipse of the Heart." And that goes for grad school in general, not just 2007.

22. Who has been your best drinking buddy?
Hahahaha.. M. I'll just say Bob!

23. Made new friends?
Lots!

24. Best new friend?
I could never pick just one.

25. Favorite night out?
I think I'd have to go with the night we broke into the abandoned swimming pool in Ida Noyes and took dozens of photos where we posed in synchronized swimming formations. That was sometime back in March, but it really does feel like it could have been just yesterday.

survey, moo
