Olechka, it does sound more attractive, doesn't it? I was thinking some about what you said and I don't understand something. If you said that you and Lesha might have to separate (if you have to leave) and I know it's so painful to even think about, why then would you have to sell the house? He can work on it while you guys are gone and you'll come back to a house that's fully done and nice to live in. And his parents would stay close to him also. I know it's not fun to think about it that way, but maybe you can consider it, if you really-really-really just LOVE that house ;)
Wow, that really got me thinking... All of our surviving grandparents (we have five between my husband and me) are living independently. I am not sure any of our parents are considering living with us eventually.
i am sorry to hear about your situation.:( i thought it was pretty much the done deal. true, the school district is important. just an idea, - have you considered private schools? will they be that more expensive than paying taxes in the best school district? in any case, i see what you are saying. 3 years is a very short of a timeframe. and finally - don't worry. you will find the house that you'll like. It will all fall into place, eventually. it's hard to make decisions based on pure numbers and logic rather than emotions, but it is the better way, really.
