A Statement on Motherhood - Because It Has Been A While

Aug 28, 2007 13:29

First thing I did when I learned I was pregnant was go to the library and check out a ton of books: the A's to Z's of it all. Books and the Internet taught me how to be pregnant. They taught me how to give birth. How to take care of a newborn. How to be a mother. How to maintain marriage after baby. How to return to work and not go crazy from it ( Read more... )

Sounds like you need a "How to parent (or live your life) without guilt" self-help book ;) I'm sure there are a few books on this subject out there. I wanted to say that everyone lives with guilt, but I don't think that true. But everyone has *issues*, that's for sure. I only feel guilty that I don't spend enough time with my daughter because I spend too much time with my son. I think I need some professional help to help me get over the guilt of bringing a sibling into her life too early. I need to just get over it and live my life as it is. Just deal with it. I think I'm almost there ;) I am almost at peace. We are about to start to stress about the money, that's really not where I want to be. Once I caught myself saying: we can't buy fresh fish, the frozen is half the price! I became very sad. But not guilty. Yet.

I need the how to live without guilt and worry book!!! I need 10 of those! Sigh.
I cried for two (or was it 3) days after bringing our second son. I felt guilty that the older one is not going to get all the attention anymore and that I can't hold the younger one as much as I want to.

I would gladly give away all the money, EVERYTHING, to fix my *issues*. Heh, guilt is the least of my worries right now :((

PARENTING WITHOUT FEAR is out now.
except that it won't tell you anything new.
all common sense.

what about parents? aren't they a resource? i know mine will be.

I'm not really into self-help books. Trying to read parening books is bad enough ;)

These were more of hypothetical paragraphs. I am not looking for a solution, I think the guilt I do have is healthy. If guilt could ever be considered a healthy feeling :)
