I've discovered that there are certain stories that are very hard to bring up in normal conversation. Since I think this particular story deserves telling I choose to use the medium of livejournal to disseminate it.

Cut for length, also as a disclaimer this story does involve bleeding (not seriously) )

Add me to the list of clueless, but still interested in poker people.

I'd like to come to the Jane Austen day, and also Utopia. Depends on shifts though- I can probably wrangle getting the 8th of March off, but without knowing when Utopia is, I can't guarantee anything.

Also, it's great that you're donating blood- I wish more people did. Unfortunately, I'm currently unable to donate blood.

Nng. I'm sorry, but if I wasn't already too wigged out by the idea of giving blood, your story would have made me so. The inside of my elbows is unpleasantly tingly in sympathy.

Jane Austen + High Tea =awesome, though.

I thought about how likely my story was to discourage people, but I figured, as in your case, that the only people to be discouraged would be those who were already too squeamish for it.

Yeah, maybe. I must admit it's not like there was any chance of me doing it either way, I have trouble enough motivating myself for bloodtests, and that's after I "got over" my phobia of needles thanks to the barrage of them I received while they tried to figure out what caused my coma *wonders if "House" had any hard-to-diagnose patients with a phobia of needles. Probably*

I used to give blood. I would happily do so yet, but the Red Cross don't want my blood for reasons I disagree with. (I had bad reactions do doing PLATELET donations so they don't want me doing whole blood any more either, even though I was fine with whole blood.)

I am in for both Jane Austen day and theoretically Utopia, although I am uncertain whether Utopia have food I can eat these days.

I've been keen to go to Utopia again, as it's been ages.
