While I'm of course happy role playing is back on, it's tempered with your knowledge that expectations can easily exceed abilities. But as we have been taught by the Great Masters, "Why do we fall, Bruce?" "So we can learn to pick ourselves up again."
Also, I am now getting the storyline of my short SG13 campaign together. It won't be ready for a little while, but I'd hope within a month or so it should be together and ready to rickroll.
What is it you want to try but haven't Chas? I wasn't thinking anything in particular, just in general. My life is pretty much ruled by the twin fears of looking foolish and making sub-optimal choices. Oh well.
Aside from being cool? Yeah, that too.
Oh burn. ;) Ohhh, you were joking. nm then. ;P
But srsly, you need to like email me or something, havent heard from you in over a year. Hey, you have my email address too, you know. I'd have to like, ask Jen, or similarly something drastic, to get yours. ;P But yeah, it's been a while (not counting the odd LJ comment). I guess we could always have an extended conversation in oliverm's LJ. ;)
I abandonded my desire to not look foolish when I had to sing and dance for the amusment of my 3 year old Japanese overlords. :P
I used to have a similiar attitude but now I have become far more spontanious and unworried. Having to live in a foreign country by myself has lead me to not being able to baby choices anywhere near as much.
I HAD your email address, I'm not sure if I STILL have it, buy mine is still vegeta@ucc, well, that fowards to my real one anyway, it hasn't been cancelled just yet.
Well, this stems from both you and Jen having this aversion to MSN which is where I do most of my talking to people from Australia. But Jen seems to be doing yearly pilgramiges to Japan so I catch up with her a little more often than with you.
Also I have been amazingly busy recently. I do a fulltime job teaching 8-5 then do karate 5:30-9 everyday so when I get home I am totally whacked and just fall asleep by 9:30. So during the day when I think, I should email blah blah, it almost never gets done :P
Welcome home!!! And well done :) Three days solo trekking in the wilderness is very intrepid...
Yay, you have not been eaten by bears :)
And yeah, treks like that are really the kind of thing where you just can't judge what it will be like until you've done them (and even if you've done quite a few it's still tricky to guess, each one's so differernt, whether it's sand/hills/rocky terrain/full of tangled vines/volcanoes...), so I wouldn't be too hard on yourself.
Hope the post-midnight-trangia-exchange didn't start you off too exhausted! Heh, sorry about that... phone still sporadically broken, dear oh dear..
Anyways, congrats on the promotion, and enjoy the extra holiday days!

Better to have tried and partially succeeded than to not have tried. Now if only I could follow my own advice. :/
Also, grats on promotion. ;)
