Just cleaned out my bag and shredded the application for Bowl Tickets that I received from the Athletic Department last week.

Surprisingly, it wasn't as painful as I thought it would be.

Guess I have a little relief knowing I don't have to watch the Ducks play that bad again until September.

Yeah, but this year we would have been headed to the Insight Bowl to play Notre Dame. Quite a bit different in terms of exposure and weather than playing Wake Forest in Seattle.

Dude, can you send in the application for Rose bowl tickets? Or is there no hope of getting another application now that you shreaded it?

It was just for bowl games that the Ducks could have gone to, and I think it started with the Sun and went down from there.

I looked at an analysis of the BCS today that raised the scenerio of Texas losing to Texas A&M next week. That could drop Texas below both Utah and Boise St. in the BCS, with Boise St. holding the sixth spot. That would give them the automatic at-large bid, along with Utah. If that happend, Cal would get shut out of the Rose Bowl.

Yeah, i saw that too.... yet another chance for the BCS to prove its futility...

It would somehow be a fitting end for Cal fans though... (or at least for the young alumni...)

If that happens, the Pac-10 should pull out of the BCS and take the Rose Bowl with them.

Aside from how the rankings are compiled, the whole partnership with the BCS bowls is odd. Yesterday FOX was awarded the contract to televise the BCS bowls games after 2007. But that doesn't include the Rose Bowl which has its own TV deal with ABC that runs through like 2015. The BCS leadership seems very fragile and fragmented.
