Just a meme Ange is forcing us all to fill out.
1. What did you do in 2004 that you'd never done before?
Many, many things. Met new people, made great friends. The whole sex, drugs and rock and roll thing. (Well, not the sex. Or the drugs. Fine, just the rock and roll.) Felt for the first time what it’s like to be lonely, yet also experienced true euphoria. (No, I was not high on crack.)
2. Did you keep your new year's resolutions, and will you make more for 2005?
Kept some, lost the others. No resolutions for me as of yet.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Aunt Pat gave birth to a baby (what else?) boy. Don’t know his name in English.
4. Did anyone close to you die?
No.
5. What countries did you visit?
Canada! And America..even if it was only Hawaii.
6. What would you like to have in 2005 that you lacked in 2004?
A stronger determination to do well at school. A focus on achievement.
7. What dates from 2004 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
July 12 (?) - Aaron and I went doughnut shopping for our first time ever!
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Setting a 100m Fly state record and not realising until 4 months later, when my coach was giving me one of his prep talks/lectures...as per usual.
9. What was your biggest failure?
Losing sight of my resolve to do better in my academics. Crappy friendships.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
I was as fit as a fiddle!
11. What was the best thing you bought?
Lol, I don’t know. All my various sweaters?
12. What achievements of friends merited celebration?
Umm. Daniel for making it into the Jnr State Soccer Team (or whatever it’s called). Davina for her waterpolo camp in Canberra (Jodie Stuhmke, Jodie Stuhmke!). Our whole waterpolo team + coach. Bon for coming in the top ten of her year. Bon and Ange for completing (and acing) one part of their School Cert. All school friends who made it in the top twenty. Sister managing to get into a selective?
13. Whose behaviour merited celebration?
Those who remained faithful to our friendship throughout the year.
14. Whose behaviour made you appalled and depressed?
Lol..my swimming coach’s? Okay, okay - I’m the one to blame. I’ll focus this year, I really will.
15. Where did most of your money go?
Clothes. Or shoes. Yes, definitely shoes. And CDs as well. Christmas + B’day presents. Cliché teenage type things.
16. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Jigging school? Lol.
17. What song will always remind you of 2004?
Umm. My music choices are too limited.
18. Compared to this time last year, are you:
a) happier or sadder? Sadder. Maybe happier. Can’t really tell.
b) thinner or fatter? Fatter!
c) richer or poorer? Richer, definitely.
19. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Sleeping, and studying.
20. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Stressing, procrastinating. Angst-ing.
21. How will you be spending Christmas?
I can’ think that far ahead..
22. Did you fall in love in 2004?
Lol. Lol. Oh god.
23. How many one-night stands?
None.
24. What was your favorite TV program?
Monk, BEFORE IT WAS AXED. Damn Channel ten. Insight was rather..insightful? Although Jenny Brockie became rather flaccid after a while.
25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
No.
26. What was the best book you read?
Umm..Animal Farm. It was weird re-reading it (last time was in yr 6) and actually picking up on the subtleties that Orwell had embedded. I want 1984 back, dammit, Cheryl.
27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
That I really should be listening to my dad's classics rather than all this emo-rock.
28. What did you want and get?
Materialistically..umm..American Eagle!
29. What did you want and not get?
Materialistically..umm..Abercrombie and Fitch. Good school marks.
30. What was your favorite film of 2004?
Dammit. Spongebob was this year. (Even though I still haven’t seen it yet..) Fahrenheit 9/11 was incisive, if not horribly one-sided.
31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I went out with school friends and did..stuff? Psstt..I’m turning 15 TOMORROW.
32.What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Everything fitting into its place without me having to do anything.
33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2004?
34. What kept you sane?
Funnily enough, swimming.
35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Erlan Howden. Although I’d never actually vote for the Greens due to some of their rather absurd policies.
36. What political issue stirred you the most?
The fact that the Liberals gained another term in parliament. Man, how stupid are Australians, denying their chance to vote in a party that would be more beneficial to themselves? Mark Latham resigning “due to his health conditions” (although he did have it coming). Generally both leaders, Howard and Latham alike, for trying to shift the blame anywhere but on themselves.
37. Who did you miss?
Who left?
38.Who was the best new person you met?
A friend who opened my eyes to a lot of the world.
39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2004.
Anti Emo.
40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year.
Nobody said it was easy, no one ever said it would be this hard.” - Anges, not mine. But sums it up rather well.
