House hunt continues on...

The realtor sent us some more houses yesterday...

I'm just not sure what to think. Part of me wants to just forget about it until summer since I do have other stuff to do and part of me would rather buy a house in Portland... Anyway...

There are three houses in this list, one of which is that first house that we made an offer on. You can read my analysis here.

The second house (actually the third house on the list) was built in 1972 and is very similar to the house we already looked at, including a similar price. There are a few things that make this house better, a slightly larger kitchen/dining room, with a built in dishwasher; an extra half-bath; a larger 3rd bedroom; and an extra 17x11 addition to the back of the garage to be used as a "workshop." Actually, when I write it all down like that it sounds pretty good- I think I have been getting discouraged. Those items are most of what I didn't like about the first house and if this one has those problems fixed that is a good thing. It is probably worth taking a look...

The third house (really the fourth house on the list) is gi-nourmous (5 bedrooms, 2057 sq ft), BUT it was built in 1890. That means all sorts of things could be wrong with it. I'm really nervous about getting a home with bad plumbing and wiring. They've also paved most of the backyard and we have been really excited about having a backyard that Caleb can go and play in.

I edited some things because I couldn't make the links work correctly. So, you may be wondering what is wrong with the second house on the list- we drove by it and it is in a really yucky area on a big road- cute house, bad location. Oh and the fifth house is just too small.

I am going to do drive-bys this afternoon. Then I'll let our realtor know which houses we want to go visit. Last time we visited houses I made a really nice list with all the things we wanted in a house and our priorities. Now, where did I put that list...

In other news, Caleb is much recovered and at Daycare today, so I am supposed to be studying... (I actually did get quite a bit done this morning). It has been so long since I had the house to myself. I can feel my stress level lowering.
