Today was a very busy day. Why does it seem like I have more and more of those these days?
Hmmm....
I really should be working on some of my homework while Caleb is asleep, but I'll take a few minutes to sit back and relax I think. Andy is at parent-teacher conferences otherwise I'd probably be listening to him read this GREAT book by James Alan Gardner. Thanks
pants_of_doom for tipping us on to him- although it took us a while to get obsessed partly because we thought Expendable was a one-off instead of a series. Gardner manages to continue to expand his universe. It reminds me a lot of the Miles series by Lois McMaster Bujold in that way. I have deduced a few things about Gardner that may or may not be true, but I'm going to believe they are. :)
1. James Alan Gardner is gay.
2. This caused a lot of friction with his mother.
3. He is much better at writing girls than he is at writing boys. (Hmmm... something else he has in common with Bujold? Except that she is pretty good at writing girls too, she just doesn't do it very often. I guess Gardner is good at writing boys, he just doesn't do it very often. )
I like journaling because it lets me get out these 'complicated' thoughts I have all day when I don't have anyone else to tell.
I may have mentioned this before, but I took that personality test again and ended up ENFP, which is the first time since high school that I tested as an extrovert. I wonder why? My personal thought is that I am getting enough Stacey time that I am feeling good about making new friends. I have also been here for a while and am starting to feel pretty stable. Which brings me to the actual things I wanted to say in this post...
We went to Andy's ultimate game yesterday and one of his teammates (a hippy-granola-crunchy-probably-from-Eugene* teammate) had a pin that said "Ask me about cohousing" So I did. It turns out there is a
group in Corvallis that are putting together a community. I am interested. I am worried they may be more hardcore granola-crunchy than I am. I am sort of borderline granola-crunchy. I can cook without meat, but I'm not a vegetarian. I recycle/reduce/reuse, but I don't wash my plastic baggies. Y'know.
The other exciting news is that provided I can pass a drug-test (tomorrow) and background test, I have a job! Eight hours a week from now until I get my pharmacist license (next two years or so). The job is at a small, newly remodeled/remodeling hospital pharmacy. And I get to keep my other job! (at a local chain retail pharmacy) And I can do my internship at the hospital! And it is in Lebanon which is about 17 miles away! I am so excited.
*I put that in there just for you
pmb and
goteam. ;)
Edited post posting because I forgot to do it pre-posting which meant there were 100 mistakes. Or a few less than that. ;)
