OH GOD THIS IS SO BEAUTIFULLLLLLLLLL. I am kind of worried but mostly RIDICULOUSLY PLEASED at how this turned out cause this is basically a huge wish fulfilment for me for them. AND MATCHING LOCKETS, I almost cut that cause I thought: too cheesy and complicated, and then I was like, no they will be adorable forever and in my head they play with each other's lockets all the time because they have no sense of personal space in Paris. So yes, this is my secret head canon too.

And like seriously, never leave your girlfriend to Mary, cause like that girl is totally gonna realise the pointlessness of boys with her beauty and awesome. Idiot Matthew.

SCREEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAM oh my god this is exactly what I wanted. THEY WENT TO PARIS! THEY FELL IN LOVE! THEY BOBBED THEIR HAIR!!! I don't know how to do anything but flail at you so I'm sorry but I'M NOT SORRY. I can't handle them and their LOCKETS omfg and lighting each other's cigarettes and GIGGLING because they are girls out on their own for the first time, so it's silly, but it is also serious and romantic, and Fellowes doesn't even know what he missed out on doing, because these ladies, THESE LADIES.

They sit in the darkened theatre entranced. They watch Mary Pickford make her way through a stage of London and Mary plays with Lavinia's hand as it lies on her lap.

This part, and the ~moment~ afterwards, absolutely murdered me. Beautiful and intimate.
