Purely by accident I found my missing MetroCard and Oyster Card. It was in the second place that I looked, a pocket of a piece of luggage. I know I've looked in that pocket a few times since too. I was simply putting the bag into another bag when I saw it in plain sight

Wow, you're coming over to London again so soon?! I assume this is work rather than leisure though.

Glad you found the Metrocard and Oyster Card - I've got a few things I put 'somewhere safe' that I still can't find a month later. I've no doubt they'll turn up in due course, but which decade that'll be in is anyone's guess.

It's a milage run disguised as leisure. At the time I couldn't get the airline miles domesticly with out costing more than going to London (or Germany) and with out spending more time in airports and airplanes. Now it looks like I have to take a couple of trips for work between now and the end of the year, I could have done with a weekend some place closer but I'm sure it would cost just as much.

You'd be surprised how many people from the UK get on a plane Friday morning, quick site see of NYC Friday afternoon, go shopping all day Saturday, and then fly home Sunday.

I know NYC is quite popular as a weekend Christmas shopping trip - one of the women I work with currently went a couple of weekends ago.
