Work is boring me to no ends at the moment. I've been twiddling my thumbs since the end of November with very little work to do. I always have this fear of job insecurity at the moment because of it. I've been to the Oktoberfest about five times now, and it's always been an interesting experience :-) What you do find is that *all* the beer tents have tables reserved for big tours and private parties from 5pm, so it's almost impossible to get a seat after that time, except possibly on the tables outside the tent, and then you're jostling with the locals for them. I don't know how to go about reserving a table (and you'd have to know which brewery you want), but I doubt it's cheap.

What Hubbie and I usually do is hit the festival during the day/over lunch, when the tables aren't reserved, and then spend the evenings exploring the centre of Munich - there are plenty of remarkable beer cellars in the city centre too, and they all have their brewery's festival ale on as well.
