Kelsey, I felt exactly the same thing. And well, I'm really good at hiding myself and yet still I made some connections, I had some great random encounters and conversations. Plus since you'll be living with other people and going to a school, connection is bound to happen.

I've been thinking lately that travel is all about vulnerability, making yourself uncomfortable and thinning your outer skin. And then you see what manner of unexpected things penetrate. For me it's kind of masochistic... but I find it brings moments of real elation.
