The Causeway, Friday Afternoon

May 04, 2012 14:53

His bags were packed, he was ready to go. He was not, however, standing outside anyone's door. Instead, he was standing at the causeway, leaning up against his suitcases. He'd put out a quick text message to let people know that he was about to leave ( Read more... )

Sarah was mostly here because she was bored. The fact that she only knew a handful of (non-student) people on the island and that Hercules was one of them had no part to play in it, naturally.

"I'm so bloody jealous you get to leave," she offered as she wandered up to him.

That got a smirk out of Hercules, and he shook his head. "I'm not sure you'd prefer Brooklyn to here. Unless you enjoy Greek food, costumed villains, and some of the best hot dogs in the world."

Sarah shrugged. "Doesn't sound that different from home." Beat. "We're bigger on chip shops than Greek food, though."

"I still do not understand how you can feel so trapped here," Hercules joked. "You possibly need to get out more. It's a good place."

Yeah, like Bobby was gonna miss seeing Herc off. Even if he wasn't too pleased about it.

"So," he said, wandering over. "Guess this is goodbye, huh?" Bobby Drake's brilliant powers of observation at work.

[slow as I am Avenging it up, but had to ping the former teammate in!]

"I think for us it may be," Hercules admitted. "Though is there not another me you know? Though I suppose it is not quite the same. But there will always be a Hercules for you, which I am able to take comfort in."

"Well, you have a phone," Bobby felt compelled to point out. "You could call, sometimes."

"True," Hercules said. "I hope you do not screen my drunken calls."

He chuckled, but he did not exactly wish to say goodbye to his little Champion friend.

One last flight. One last go around the island while Warren still lived here, and then it was off and away to Kaeleer. One last flight, keeping an eye open for familiar faces along the way, and- Lo, there was a text, telling him that there was one such face already at the causeway.

He landed and jogged the short distance between them, waving as he did so.

"Time to go, huh?"

God, he didn't want to leave either.

"Time to go make sure no one tries to unmake creation again," Hercules said. "Can't possibly leave it to all those X-types to save the world all the time."

Yes, he was being a wee bit of a brat.

"Hey, hey now," Warren chided, feeling maybe a tiny bit protective of the X-Men, even if he'd never strictly been one. "The X-Men just sit back every now and then so that all the other hero types don't feel left out of the fun, obviously."

... Warren could be a brat right back. He had to keep up with Karla, after all.

"The best X-Men are on other teams, any way," Hercules said, half-joking. "Champions and Avengers and the like. Though perhaps the true best belong in Kaleer."

Karla had also gotten a text. "The only reason I'm not protesting more is because I'm leaving too, in just a few hours," she warned him.

You know, once she got over the whole 'avoiding her boyfriend' thing. La.

"Otherwise, you wouldn't be allowed to leave."

"Leaving? You don't intend to spend the summer here?" Hercules pondered out loud. He tilted his head a bit. "Or are you to spend the summer with your lovebird?"

Karla's grin was a little weak at that. See: avoiding the boyfriend.

"We're going home to Kaeleer for the summer," she said. "We both have a lot to learn and not much time to do it in."

"Is that supposed to be a euphemism?" Hercules asked, honestly.

Cindy was also taking a walk down the Causeway, carrying a bag. Her bag had a few more shoes and possibly and equal number of weapons, though. "Heading off into the sunset?" she asked him.

Hercules pointed at the sun. "I'd have to wait a long time for the sunset, right now," he said, a wry smile on his face.

"And there's poetry for you," Cindy said. "Sounds nice, but not entirely practical."

"I'm more of a limerick kind of guy," Hercules said with a grin. "Have you heard about the man from Nantucket?"
