We spent several weeks on the mainland. Metro riding in DC, trying to get people to smile. I forgot that people in DC are too suspicious of someone smiling at them on the metro to smile back. We got to hook up with friends in Maryland and beg them to come spend a few solid weeks with us on the island. Then it was grandparent (in-laws) visiting and

this morning, one of the folks I was orienting said that she grew up in hawaii, and that she's in love with new orleans because there is that same kind of openness-friendliness here. she lives in LA now, where it is so not, you know?
anyway, I thought of you and imagine because whenever I think of hawaii I think of you and imagine! it seems like it's such a good fit for you.
