Homeless in Waianae anonymous July 24 2006, 19:51:56 UTC
I, too, am saddened every day by the homeless I see in Waianae. It's scary to realize that many of these people ARE working, but that they have managed to slip off the edge of life's merry-go-round, for any number of reasons, and now they simply cannot catch up and get back on. One thing I have noticed here is the lack of regular, decent apartment buildings. And the term "affordable housing" seems to be linked to pretty much only purchased houses. I wonder what the rental rates for a 2-bedroom apartment need tobe to be affordable for a normal working family? Is it possible to build such an apartment building and make it work financially?
