It is no secret to those who know us that Col is not thrilled about living in Hawaii. He is an intellectual through and through. There is not much of him to embrace the innocent simplicity that is the reality of local Hawaii. I know the story. Long childhood hell, and now, as an adult, always walking with my eyes open for just the right spot. I moved every fucking year for 8 years.

We've been in this house three years. I want out. I want to go to the desert. There's no chance in hell.

hawaii sounds lovely, as well. What hope could there be for a place for a white lady. I think it's partially about whiteness somehow, my vagabond self, my jealousy over others who have a home. but I'm not sure why.
