I was thinking about this one the other day... mostly because I just reread Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency and Douglas Adams ripped huge bits out of it for the main plot of that book.
And a big ugh to being woken up every hour or so in the hospital... I have no idea how they expect people to heal when they won't let them sleep! This is why the ER doctor released us to my in-laws after our big car accident. He'd thought about keeping us at the hospital overnight, but when he found out my in-laws were planning to get rooms at a hotel nearby for us he said "You can be sleepless and miserable here, in separate rooms with small bathrooms, no cable TV, no internet and nurses who will wake you up constantly even if you do happen to fall asleep... or you can be sleepless and miserable together in a hotel room with a nice bathroom, cable television and an internet connection." Pretty obvious which one we chose. Although nowadays, most hospitals have wi-fi.
