Bird Walking and a Flightless Several Weeks

Jan 20, 2015 09:29

I've written and deleted an update nearly a dozen times in the last several weeks. There have been numerous developments in my life recently, and the especially melodramatic part of me would want to believe that they are all aimed at breaking my heart. I've spared my readers the updates that I wanted to write. I'll simply give the status update ( Read more... )

Welcome back to Livejournal. Sounds nice to go on a bird walk.

It's actually really fun. It really does to go with someone who knows about birding. Otherwise, you're just listening to pretty sounds, which is definitely worth your time, but it's nice knowing which birds you're listening to and some details about their lives and remarkable journeys.

I'm so sorry to hear that you've been having a hard time in 2015. Fingers crossed that this isn't a reflection of what's to come.

That bird call debate is fascinating. Certainly relates to my romantic life in some way too. I'll be spending the rest of my evening lost in my thoughts.

While I know better than to tempt fate by saying things like "it couldn't get worse," I am optimistic that I'm headed out of this particular storm.

I'm sorry I haven't been as present on here, but I'll try to catch up on lost time (and friends' updates) soon. I hope your love life doesn't resemble the bird dilemma, or at least that it doesn't for long.

Hi there! Sorry things have been rough but I am glad you are finding solace in the birds. I attend the Tawas Birding Festival in Michigan every year and imitating bird calls is strictly forbidden. I've gone on owl prowl walks at the state park though where they played mp3 clips of calls. The owls responded and followed us around the park. It was so cool.

Thanks. I can really see the appeal of birding, which isn't something that I probably would have imagined saying a decade ago. It's an amazing and beautiful world. I didn't realize that you were into birding, and now that I know that, beware of pestering newbie questions!

I came into birding gradually by feeding the birds in my backyard because my mom, aunts, and grandma did it. I think I am in the middle stage of birding where I can identify the common birds and a few special ones like warblers, so I can probably answer any questions you have or direct you to the right source! I can list the Kirtland's Warbler as one of the birds I have seen in the wild and that is a rare one found only in the jack pine forests of Michigan!
