In the USA, you can take what're called Advanced Placement tests. Most of the time you take a class for the specific subjects, and then take the test at the end of the year. They're offered in a lot of subjects.

Anyway, they're graded on a 1-5 scale, and different colleges will give you credit for different scores. My college would only give me credit for 4's or 5's, so this means that I don't have to pay for $2000 worth of college!
