Commenting on my own thing--I'm not saying that this is the ideal situation, but really, this is an illustration of how not to respond when the cops pull you over.
Yeah, I know. You think this is horrible that the cops would do this.
I think the woman was seriously dumb in how she responded. Okay, the first time she says that they can't clock her while driving, if he doesn't buy it, fine. Bring it up in court when you're there and have the ticket dismissed.
Calling someone when the cop has you pulled over, then staying on the damn phone instead of getting out of the car (and she had plenty of time to get out--if you listen to the cop she doesn't have a seatbelt on, so all the time it should have taken was enough to turn and hop out of the car. Hop out or he'll taze you, she's warned. Common sense says get off the damn phone and get out of the car. You may be getting screwed by the law, but if you don't get out, you're getting screwed by the law and you've been tazed.
true. that lady's quite dumb. Yet the cop is a little tazer-happy. Obviously the lady was not posing a threat to his life or anything. He could have just wrested her out of our car or slam his stick on the car or something to get her attention. All he was losing was time. Impatient cop.
And really, i don't know where this blind compliance comes from! before anyone asks me to exit my vehicle in the middle of nowhere i wanna know damn sure that they are a real cop, and they are pulling me out of the car for a damn good reason! Credentials, man, badge number, identification and the name of his superior. I'm not saying that that particular cop may be a bad guy, but anyone who enforces authority behind the badge deserves a fairly logical explanation, not just because they can. It's an abuse of power if you cannot verbalize your methodology.
