I haven't updated in a while! NO WAY--
I was thinking (more than usual, as I am always thinking) during the last half of my shift today. I already know that what spurred this on was talking to the off-duty cop for over an hour, but this is something that's always been sitting in the back of my mind ever since I started my job as a mall cop. But after tonight, it kinda moved from an idea to something like.. a step? Yeah, I'm short on words (and height HAR) right now since it is three in the morning, after all.
...I think I'll join the police...
I'm still probably gonna wait until I get my degree in this audio engineering stuff first. I don't want to have to hassle with juggling Academy and school; I'm already having a hard enough time being a mall cop and going to school. I still want to be a studio mixer and maybe a musician, but as expected, having that as a career is sketchy and not to mention HARD. Sure, you can make about as much as a regular, full-time cubicle man with a third of the hours worked, but it's hard to get into it when you're a late bloomer, as I am. And Dallas is non-stop full of too-talented-for-their-own-good musicians.
Being in the police is tricky business, but that's how I like helping people. It's good job security, and I already have a lot of quasi-LE experience - as well as tactical training - under my belt. Not to mention all the cops, ex-cops, military, and ex-military people who have my back (the main catalyst of all this thinking is Assistant Chief of Police in DeSoto [which means he's second in command, for those who don't know the jargon]).
If I manage that, I'd still hope to keep up the studio stuff and retain my music chops. Fight crime by day, jam out by night.
That oughta work, right...?
