Clara: *is in the kitchen, tossing the salad*

Colin: *pulls up, parking in the garage and grabbing his coat, heading for the front door*

Ling: *Wanders in to help* Did you give RanFan and Fuu the grocery list?

Clara: Um, yes, they got everything I needed.
Clara:Are you done setting the table like how I showed you?

Colin: *shutting the door behind him and tossing his hat on a table in the foyer* Um, hello? Clara? ...Ling?

Ling: *Nod* Such an odd arrangement ... I keep forgetting this country has so many eating utensils ...What else can I do? *Hears Colin*

Clara: *grins* Oh! He's home!

Ling: Should I distract him? *Slightly evil grin*

Clara: No, no, that's all right, I'm pretty much ready to serve, actually.

Colin: *making his way toward the kitchen* Hello?

Ling: Ah, okay! *waits for Clara's directions*

Clara: *rushes to the door* Hello Colin! Welcome home! *grinning*

Ling: *Watches from the kitchen*

Colin: *about to push the door open, startled with it flies open in his face* Oh! *beams* Hello! I was wondering where you were. Um, should I go wash
up or something?

Clara: *still grinning* Sure, sure, go wash up. Meet us in the dining room, okay?

RanFan: *Comes up behind Ling* Young Master ... we have mister Renfield's gift ready ...

Clara: *the dining room, which, incidentally, is all pretty looking with nice table cloth, nice sliver, nice china, and candles*

Colin: *smiles brightly* Sure! *heads upstairs to change into something slightly less parole officer-like and comb his hair, checking himself in the mirror... three times... before trotting back downstairs*

Clara: Here, Ling, I'll grab the salad if you grab the bread, RanFan, you can grab the wine... where's Fu gone?
Clara: We'll leave the rest of the stuff in the kitchen for now. I was thinking we'd do it in courses.
Clara: *grabs the salad bowl and carries it into the dining room, setting it down on the table*

Ling: *Takes the small package in Ran Fan's hands and pockets it* *Grabs the bread like Clara asked*

RanFan: *Grabs the wine and follows*

Colin: *pushes the doors to the dining room open, stopping short when he sees the table* Oh... my!

RanFan: Mister Fu left to change from his uniform ...

Ling: *Beams proudly at Colin*

Clara: *grins* Surprise!

RanFan: *Sets the wine down and bows toward Colin* We hope you enjoy this ...

Colin: *eyes wide, slow smile spreading across his face* Oh goodness! You planned all this for me? *Must... Figure out... Reaction...*

Cara: *grins wider, if possible* Yep~!
Clara: I hope you're hungry....

Ling: Sit down sir! We worked too hard on this for you just to stare at it!

Colin: *opens and closes his mouth a few times, grinning hopefully less stupidly than he feels* I am, actually... *looking around, still in mild shock* I just- This is- *words... failing* Thank you.

Clara: No no no, thank you, Colin. Which is the point, really.

RanFan: *Looks at Ling who's busy being proud of himself* We had a small gift for you too ...

Colin: *looks around, regaining grasp on linear thought* Where should I sit? *eyes widen* Really? A gift?
Colin: The point? *blinks at her*

Clara: Well, anywhere you want, really....

Colin: *decides on the chair at the far end of the table and sits, smiling happily*

Ling: Oh yeah! *Grabs the box containing a gold pocket watch with Colin's name inscribed* Eh ... you probably already have one, we really couldn't afford much more at the moment, but this is for you ...
Ling: *Waits for him to sit first*

Colin: *takes the box carefully, staring at it and then smiling up at Ling* Um, can I open it, or should I wait?

Ling: Whatever you want! It doesn't matter! *grins*

Clara: *blushing slightly* Well, I, um, just sort of wanted to show my thanks for... well, ah, with, um, me going through such a hard time recently, I really appreciate your being there for me....

Clara: And we're all really grateful to you for taking us into your home....

Fu: *Decides to show up right then*
Fu: Didn't mean to be late ... *He says gruffly*

Clara: Anyway, when I was poking around in your library, I found this cookbook from some place named France... the recipes looked fantastic so I thought I'd make a nice French dinner for all of us!

Colin: *blinking again, trying to wrap his brain around the situation* Oh... well, thank you! I mean, it really isn't that big a deal and... um... yeah. *grins sheepishly* French? Goodness!

Clara: *to Fu* Oh good, you're here! Don't worry about it, we're just about ready to start.

RanFan: I never had heard of the place ... certainly a learning experience ... *Smiles at Clara* Miss Clara did most of the cooking ...

Colin: *blinks at Fu* Oh, hello!

Clara: I'm pretty sure it's in another dimension.... Oh, but I couldn't have done it without your help, RanFan!

Fu: *Bows* Hello sir ...

Ling: *Mock-scolding* Fu, manners! I told you to be here prompt!

Clara: *bustling about* Come, come, everyone, sit down! Colin can open his present and then we can start on the bread and salad.

Colin: *grins at the flurry of activity* I honestly can't believe you did this all for me. *looks down at the box*

Clara: *this would be the traditional French salad, salad verte, green salad with a simple vinaigrette*

Fu: If Young Master hadn't decided last moment on that gift ... *he finds a chair at the end of the table*

Clara: *and also, baguettes*

Ling: *Helps Clara start distributing* Mister Renfield deserves it ...

RanFan: *Also helps*

Clara: *and the wine is whatever this dimension's version of Sauternes is, which would be a sweet white wine*

Clara: *pours wine for everyone*

Colin: Oh I really... *smiles* I guess I'll just shut up and appreciate it. *opens the box, eyes widening* Oh... This is lovely!

Clara: *not toooooo much for the younger people present, though*

Ling: *Grins* You like it sir?

Clara: *peers over at the watch* Ooh, pretty!

Colin: *picks it up delicately* It's exquisite! *grins at him* I do not know what to say. *laughs quietly* You can just call me Colin, you know.

Ling: *shakes head* It feels inappropriate ...

Fu: *Pickes up the glass Clara poured for him* Shall we give a ... what's it called here ...?

RanFan: *Offers gently* A toast?

Clara: A toast? Oh, yes, I rather think so.

Colin: Oh, no, really! I mean, *laughs* I feel silly. It is not like you are underlings or something!

Clara: Raise your glasses everyone!

Colin: *looks at his wine glass a second, just noticing it, and setting the watch gently back in the box, taking the glass*

Ling: *Picks up glass* Oooo this is silly ... *laughs*

Clara: *raises her glass, grinning* To Colin Renfield... because he's just so nice!

Fu: His generosity. *nods*

Colin: *will not blush will not blush*

Ling: To Mister Renfield, because I will never call him 'Colin'

Colin: *mock-glare* We shall see.

Clara: *laughs, taking a sip*

RanFan: *Is a little lost, so she just mimics everyone*

Ling: *Winks at Colin and drinks*

Colin: *shakes his head, grinning, and takes a sip* You are too kind, really.

Clara: Well, all right, everyone, eat up! The main course is waiting in the kitchen.

RanFan: *Stands up* Shall I go get it while you begin?

Colin: *to RanFan* Please, you don't have to worry about that! Just eat with us.

Clara: Oh no no no, we'll wait until everyone's done with this stuff. Eat, eat!

Colin: *takes some bread, smiling at Clara* You are really sneaky, you know that?

Clara: *grins* I have my moments.

Ling: This was all Miss Clara's idea ... she is brilliant when it comes to this stuff ... *takes up some salad*

Colin: Yes, she really is. *smiles warmly* I hate to think what this place would be like without her.

Clara: *blushes* Oh dear, I don't know about brilliant, really... I couldn't have done this without help from you three, anyway. *smiles warmly at the Xingians*

Fu: You are a very Honourable woman, it was our pleasure to help. *takes some bread*

Colin: *also looking at the Xingians* Um, I know I haven't even met either of you two... Fu and RanFan, I take it? I'm sorry, I have been out a lot recently.

Clara: *grins back, still blushing* Well, it would be much dustier....

Colin: *sidelong grin at her* Understatement, my dear.

Clara: *breaks off a piece of baguette and butters it*

RanFan: I'm sorry sir, my name is RanFan, one of Young Master's guards ...

Colin: Guards? Goodness! *looking at Ling* Are you expecting attacks?

Fu: And I Fu, I've been watching after his family before miss RanFan was born.

Ling: *laughs weakly* Well, you never know when you're traveling across the desert ...

Colin: *sensing potential guard rivalry, smiles amiably* Well, I do hope you are comfortable here! If there is anything you need, just ask, alright?

Clara: Oh, didn't he tell you? He's here on official business from the Emperor of Xing!

Ling: My family is rich, so I decided it would be worth take them along ...
Ling: And I'd feel greedy asking for more ...
Ling: Eh ... yeah ... I believe I told you about our research?

Clara: *eats some salad*

Colin: *surprise* Oh! I had no idea! *sheepish grin* Again, sorry I haven't had time to get to know any of you better yet. *head tilt* Rich? Eh, don't worry about it. *laughs*

Ling: *Blinks* Well ... we're rich ... but our traveling has made our funds a little low, and we had no way of transferring them ...

Fu: *Is giving Ling warning looks*

Ling: *Stuffs mouth with bread*

Colin: Well it is not as if we are wanting for anything around here... Do not know if you had noticed. *smirk* So really- just make yourselves at home.

RanFan: Young master certainly has made himself at home ... *shakes head*

Clara: *content to listen for now, devours bread... cooking makes her hungryyyyyy*

Colin: *laughs* I understand Xingian custom is considerably more, ah, formal than what we are used to. Am I right?

Ling: *Nods* Very dry after a while ... Amastris is a lot less formal *Picks up more salad*

RanFan: Young Master took years to get the customs correct ...

Colin: Yes, it must be quite an adjustment! And you are a long way from home. What did you say your business was? *happily tearing off some bread*

Clara: I hope you're adjusting to things well enough, here.... I can't imagine how different things must be from how you're used to.

Ling: Eh ... our business ...

Clara: *mmmmm salad*

Fu: We're researching the clone problem in Xing. *Said smoothly*

Colin: *interested* So it is popping up there, too? I had wondered, since I have not had much chance to travel far outside Amestris in some time now. It seems to be quite expansive lately, hm?

Ling: *Nods quickly* Ah yeah, I told Miss Clara about it ...

Colin: *grinning at Clara* See? What would I do without you around to host for me?

Clara: Mm, yes, apparently it's, err, rather... problematic for them, seeing as how Xing was crowded to begin with.
Clara: *blushes faintly*

Fu: Our people haven't handled the situation well ... higher murder rates and the such. It's very disappointing, really. *Frowns as he pours another glass of wine for himself*

Colin: Yes, I had heard... *thoughtful* Hm. I have not been to Xing in what seems like ages. I should pay a visit sometime.

Clara: *stare* You've been to Xing?!

Ling: *beams* You should return with us when we leave ... eventually. We could show you the tourist sites!

Colin: *mentalfacepalm* Oh, yes. Awhile ago. Sort of a passing visit. I told you I traveled a lot.
Colin: *beams* That sounds lovely! Provided work is in a lull, I may take that offer.

Clara: But Xing's so far away! And you never tell me anything about where you've been! *pouts*

Ling: *Grins at Clara* You shall come with us, and Fu can stay here and watch the mansion!

Fu: ...

Colin: *look at that interesting plate, my my!* Oh, er... I guess this is true. *chuckles* Do not worry, I am not planning on deserting you here- *tries to hide a snort of laughter and looks apologetically at Fu*

Clara: *eyes wide* Oh dear, thank you, but I don't think I could!

RanFan: *munches on her salad* But you should Miss Clara! You would be so welcome, and it might be a nice vacation for you.

Colin: *takes the last couple of bites of his salad* She would certainly deserve it.

Clara: But... but isn't it an awfully long way to go, just for a vacation?

Colin: *to Ling* Yes, I had wondered, how exactly did you travel here?

Ling: *chuckles* By foot.

Colin: *gasp* Are you serious? How long did that take?

Fu: I suggested transportation but no ... *grumbles*

Ling: *thinks* A couple of months ...

RanFan: Half a year. *Nonchalantly*

Colin: .........*blinks*

Clara: .........

Fu: The Young Master is foolish at times.

Clara: ...Goodness!

Colin: Um, there is this handy thing known as mass transportation, don't know if you have heard of it...

Ling: ... *glares at Fu* It would have been noticeable. *Said like it makes it all better*

Colin: ...Are you hiding from someone?

Clara: *eats salad*

Ling: ... eh ... *realizes the hole he just dug himself*

[Stretch of silence]

Colin: *takes some more bread*

Ling: *coughs* Not exactly. We're just going incognito lately ... er ... money issues.

Colin: *raises eyebrows* You were not kidding when you said you were rich, I take it.

Ling: Okay ... *is trying to think of something* It has to do with our research .... really it's not important to you ... well, it wouldn't really affect you ... but, no. I wasn't kidding about the money thing ...

RanFan: *Mental FacePalm*

[Another Stretch of Silence]

Colin: *takes a sip of wine, deciding not to exacerbate things* Ah, well in that case I shall not inquire further. I just hope that you are able to accomplish all you need, since you have traveled so far.

Clara: *finishes salad, glances around to see how everyone else is doing*

Ling: *Mental sigh of relief* Thank you for not pressing it ... *looks at Clara* Shall we get to the next course?

Clara: If everyone's ready... looks like it, hmm?

Colin: We all have our business. I can understand that as well as anyone. *drinks some more wine*

Clara: *gestures to RanFan and Fu, getting up from the table* Would you two mind helping me?

RanFan: *Smiles at Colin* Are you ready for more sir?

Fu: *Nods and stands to follow*

Clara: *bustles off to the kitchen*

Colin: Oh, I- Sure. *smiles back*

RanFan: What do you need help with Miss Clara? *Is still a little jumpy*

Ling: *Laughs weakly**To Colin* You said you've traveled to Xing before?

Clara: I just need help carrying these platters. Here, Fu, you take the potatoes, RanFan, if you would grab the greens? I've got the duck. *hoists a platter*

Colin: Er, yes. The most recent time was just in passing, though. Had to visit some co-workers
Colin: I take it this is your first visit to Amestris?

Clara: *specifically, they are flattened new potatoes with brown butter, dandelion greens sautéed in oil, butter and garlic, and duck à l'orange*

Ling: *Blinks at the topic change* Yes ... we've had Amestrian visitors before, but never actually traveled here ...
Ling: It's been quiet a culture change ...

RanFan: *Picks up the veggies* Anything else?

Colin: I can imagine! The cultural differences... And the language. Your Amestrian is flawless.

Fu: *Picks up potatoes*

Clara: No, I'll come back for the dessert when we've finished the main course, it's staying warm in the oven. *heads back toward the dining room*

Ling: We were taught Amestrian in school ... something about being on good terms by knowing the language ... *shrugs*

Fu: *Follow*

RanFan: *Follow*

Colin: *swirling his wine glass idly* Goodness, you must have gone to quite a classy school.

Clara: *enters* All right, who's ready for duck? *grin*

Ling: *Laughs* It's taught in almost all the schools. Xing isn't a poor country after all.

Colin: Ah, yes. True. *sheepish grin* I guess for having visited the place I know remarkably little about the basic principles of culture.
Colin: *spots the food* Ah! My goodness that looks extravagant!

Ling: It's only changed in the last decade ... it's been a while since you've visited? *Looks over his shoulder* Ooo! Duck! *Grins*

Clara: *grins more* Oh, you have no idea how much fun it was to cook all this!

Colin: *thinking* Errrm... Not too long ago, but that was just a passing visit, like I said.
Colin: It smells wonderful!

RanFan: Duck A'La Orange! *Corrects in mock-seriousness**Sets her platter down*

Clara: *sets the platter 'o duck down in the middle of the table*

Colin: You got this out of a book in my library, right?

Fu: *Sets down the potatoes*

Ling: From a place named F-ra-nc-e? *Stumbles over the word* Where is that?

Clara: *nods* Mmhmm... fantastic cookbook, I've read the entire thing cover to cover.

Colin: *quietly* Um, I believe it is alter-dimensional.

Clara: Colin collects extra-dimensional books!

Colin: *small smile* Well, among other things.

Ling: *Blinks* I've heard that phrase before ... I believe a man named 'Hughes' mentioned something about it ...

Fu: *sits* You collect things, sir?

Colin: *covers a derisive snort by taking a sip of wine*
Colin: *brightly* Oh, yes. Um, books mostly.

Fu: My grandfather collected books also ... what kind do you look at?

Clara: *sits down* Well, anyway, everything's ready to serve... I guess we'll just pass the platters around?

Ling: They must be pretty old books ...

Colin: Yes, I specialize in old and extra-dimensional volumes. And I have several first-print editions which I am particularly proud of.

RanFan: *Reaches for some veggies since they're close* Anyone else want some?

Clara: Oh yes, after you.

Colin: Er, sure. *takes some potatoes*

Fu: Any particular subject? *grabs 'teh duck*

RanFan: *passes them*

Colin: Well, I have a selection on plants and cooking, obviously. Not that they really do me much good, but they were beautiful volumes, so I could
not resist. I also have a lot of fiction and history books.
Colin: Also some on symbolism from different cultures in different dimensions, including this one. And some linguistics. I have a fascination with extinct languages, I suppose. *taking some duck*

Clara: *accepts the greens and serves herself some* This should be interesting... I've never actually cooked with dandelion greens before.... *looks around* Who wants greens next?

Ling: I'll take some ...

Clara: It was quite a bit of work organizing in there.... *chuckles*

Colin: I will take them when you're done, if you don't mind.
Colin: Oh my! You even organized the library? *makes mental not to go check this out*

Clara: Here you go, Ling.

Fu: Hm ... we inherited my Grandfather's collection of planting and medical books, which are quite interesting ... *glares at Ling* ... I believe he collected them for the price tag though. He rarely ever read them ... and I'll take some greens also when you're done.

Clara: *passes him the greens*
Clara: Yeah... you told me to look around, and I got a bit carried away....

Ling: *Takes them* Of course Fu's chosen interests are mind numbing at best ... *hands them to Colin*

Colin: I am impressed! And grateful. I cannot wait to see.

Ling: Would we be allowed in the library?

Colin: *smirks* Oh? Not much appreciation for literature, then, Ling? *to Fu* What types of books are you interested in?

Clara: I organized them by type, and then alphabetically. ^_^
Clara: Colin, are you done with the duck?

Colin: Of course! I was actually about to suggest that you make a point of poking around in there.
Colin: Goodness, Clara. I do not know what to say.
Colin: *looks around, locating the platter and passing it to her* Of course. Here you are.

Clara: *laughs* Like I said, I got a bit carried away....
Clara: *serves herself duck* Who's got the potatoes?

RanFan: *Passes them*

Clara: Ah, thank you, RanFan. *smiles*

Fu: Ah ... I'm mostly read medical text ... *looks at Clara* Do you read much, miss?

Clara: *serves herself some potatoes*

Ling: *Chooses to drop out of the conversation and eat ... stupid book worms*

Colin: *ponders* I probably have something that could interest you. We can check out the library after dinner if you like.

Clara: Oh, no, not much, really. I enjoy some light reading before bed, but other than that.... Well, and then there are cookbooks. *chuckles*

Colin: *glances at Ling, smiling over the rim of his glass* What sort of things are you interested in, then?

Fu: *brightens... just a tad* That would be much appreciated. *To Clara* Cookbooks are useful too. We would not have this wonderful meal had you not read them.

Clara: *cuts off a piece of duck and eats it happily*

Ling: *chuckles* Nothing appropriate to the conversation.

RanFan: *blushes*

Colin: ...*grin* Oh? Now I am interested.
Colin: This is delicious, Clara. As usual, I am highly impressed.

Clara: *blushes* Oh, well, thank you, I'm glad you're enjoying everything. *smiles at Fu and Colin*

Ling: *laughs* Eh heh ... lets say that my reading interests are hidden in the floorboards of the front porch ...

Clara: ...Huh?

Ling: At home I mean ...

Colin: *wow, this sounds... familiar* Oooh. *hides a smirk*

Clara: ...I don't get it....

Ling: *smiles* It's probably in your best interest Miss Clara

Clara: *blinks* ...Ah....

Colin: *takes a bite, trying to keep his mouth conveniently full*

RanFan: We threatened to burn them if he insisted on bringing them ... *sighs heavily*

Colin: Your luggage must have been very heavy!

Clara: ...Them?
Clara: *really confused*

Colin: *to Clara* His books.

Fu: Anyway! Wonderful dinner Miss Clara! What are the greens again?

Clara: *blinks* Um... dandelion greens....

Colin: *oh look, lots of food to put in my mouth so I don't have to talk!*

Ling: Very heavy! Food and water and such ... almost no extra cloths! It was a painful trip!

Colin: It surprises me that you did not at least have horses or the like.

Clara: I gathered them all from around the property... we have a lot of weeds. *chuckles a little, sipping her wine*

Ling: We did at first, but the border control wouldn't let us pass with them ... *grumbles* We didn't have a passport ...

Colin: ...Should I be waiting for customs to show up at the door? *grin, taking a long sip of wine*

Fu: Oh! How resourceful!

Clara: Oh dear, they took your horses? What's going to happen to them? Will you get them back?

Ling: *Shakes head* Oh no ... we took care of it! Not a thing for you to worry about! *Drinks some of his wine*

Colin: *laughs* Alright, that would be a bit tetchy anyway.

Clara: *to Fu* Ah, yes, well.... it seemed like a unique recipe, and with the main ingredient in such great abundance in my own backyard.... *waves a hand vaguely*
Clara: *eats some of her greens*

Colin: Well, for weeds they taste surprisingly good!

Clara: *laughs a little* Well, they're supposed to be quite good for you.... And I guess a weed is really only a plant that you don't want. I
rather like dandelions, I think they're pretty.

Ling: *Thinks for moment* We used to fry dandelions ... taste good with butter ... *eats some duck*

Colin: Yes, I think I am inclined to agree with that. The flowers look beautiful in the lawn.

Ling: Also used to try and eat rose petals as a child .... *shakes head* You're right, flowers look much nicer on a lawn and garden ...

Clara: Mmm, yes, I did these ones in oil, butter, and garlic.

Colin: Rose petals make very good tea, I believe.

RanFan: *nods* Brings out flavour and scent, it's very relaxing if you like the scent ...

Clara: I really ought to put in some more flowers. I was thinking daisies and violets. Don't know where I'll put them, though.
Clara: Mm, yes, rose hips, too.

Colin: How is the area around the pavilion coming?

Clara: Ling and I managed to put in the rosebushes in between cooking.
Clara: Clara: I was thinking I'd paint it tomorrow.

Colin: Wow! You have been busy.

Clara: *grins* Multi-tasking!

Ling: *blinks* What colour did you decide on?

Colin: Colin: *munchmunch*

Clara: I don't know, I guess I was just thinking I'd paint it over white, the color it is already....

Colin: That thing was white?

Clara: Although, I don't know, maybe it could use some trim? I don't know what color, though....
Clara: *laughs* Yes, if you scrub away some of the dirt and mildew.

Ling: *munchage* Maybe trim it in blue? That would look dignified ...

Clara: *eats some potatoes*
Clara: Oooh, a nice royal blue, maybe?

Colin: I am inclined to agree with Ling. And maybe if the pond gets un-scummed it would reflect nicely?
Colin: I can hire someone to deal with the pond if you like, I know it would be a big hassle to try and do it without some sort of equipment.

Fu: You would have to pump it maybe ... or find more chemicals for the pond. *drinks*

Clara: *munching thoughtfully* I've been trying to think how to do that.
Clara: It might be best if we got a contractor for that, I'm not sure I could handle it myself.
Clara: Oh dear, let's not put chemicals in the pond, I do want things to be able to live in there eventually.

Colin: A contractor. Sure. I'll look into that tomorrow morning.

Clara: *sip of wine*

Ling: Should I pick up paint tomorrow then?

Colin: Wouldn't it be easier if I did? With my car and all.

Clara: Um, sure, if you would that would be great. Tomorrow morning maybe?
Clara: Well, someone anyway.

Colin: *laughs, finishing his duck*

RanFan: I'll go, you haven't given me much to do tomorrow morning ...

Fu: *Is content to listen for now*

Colin: *whyyyy are we even talking about this?* *smiles serenely, taking a sip of wine*

Clara: *laughs* Well, I'll let you fight over it amongst yourselves. I'd like to have it in the morning because someone's coming over to help, and I don't know when.
Clara: Oh, and if you could pick up some daisies and violets to plant at the same time?

Colin: *interestedly* Someone is coming to help? Anyone I know?

RanFan: *nods* I'll be sure to ... and someone's coming to help?

Ling: *Is finishing his main course*

Clara: *stares down at her plate, poking at her greens with a fork* Ah... yes... that Alphonse kid... he wanted to help paint and plant flowers....

Ling: *Raises eyebrow* The rude one?

Colin: *inhales some wine, trying not to choke* The- the one with the turtle? *please let me be wrong please please please*

Clara: *still staring at her plate* Um... yes... the rude one with the turtle....

Colin: ........................How... nice?

Ling: ... the emo sockpuppet ... *frowns*
Ling: Don't let that brat near me ... I'll dump paint on him, I swear ...

Colin: *burst of laughter* What did you just call him?
Colin: Ling can stay.

Clara: He just... sort of... showed up, earlier today... I didn't think I could turn him down....

Colin:Um, do I want to know how he knows where we live?

Ling: *Grins* When he was being 'trendy', he called me a liar, so I called him an emo sockpuppet! *chuckle* And thank you Sir.

Clara: ...He probably asked his, ah, his friend... Gluttony....

Colin: *mock aggravation* You don't have to call me "Sir"! *laughing way harder than he wants to be* Oh goodness, I can only imagine how he reacted to that...
Colin: *glances at Clara* Oh. Right. Gluttony has not been back, has he? *slightly dark look*

Clara: No, he hasn't....
Clara: *drinks wine*

Colin: Oh. Good. *finishes his greens*

RanFan: Are we ready for desert?

Clara: *brightens a bit* I can go get it, if everyone's ready.

Colin: There is more? *probably hasn't eaten this much food in one sitting since he was human...*

Fu: Do you want help? *drinks*

Clara: *laughs* Don't worry, it isn't much.... Would people like tea as well?

Colin: Can I do something?

Ling: Do we have plain Green Tea?

Clara: Ah, no no, I can take care of it, you all just sit and and talk amongst yourselves.

Colin: I think I bought some a couple weeks ago...

Clara: We do, if you'd like... I was thinking we'd try this stuff I just bought. It's called genmaicha, it's this toasted rice tea from Far East... not Xing, but sort of near there....
Clara: I thought it might counteract all the sweet from the duck and the wine and the dessert....

Colin: *recognizes the name vaguely* Oh... is that the kind with the popcorn sort of things in it?

Clara: *laughs* Yes, that one.

Ling: *Grin* Sounds good to me, I'm willing to try new things.

Colin: *almost said something about not having had that kind of tea in years, but finally remembers to keep his mouth shut*

Clara: *stands up, dabbing at her lips lightly with a napkin* Well, all right, I'll be back in a few minutes, then. *heads for the kitchen*

Ling: *curious glance* Were you about to say something sir?

Colin: Oh, nope~ *smiles winningly*

Clara: *in the kitchen, fills a kettle with water and puts it on the stove to boil*

RanFan: *to Colin* I meant to ask, where else have you traveled?

Colin: *fiddling idly with his fork trying to remain inconspicuous* Ermm... You know... Around. *waves a hand* Xing, Drachma...

Clara: *gets out new teapot and five cups, puts genmaicha in a tea ball*

RanFan: *smiles* You made it sound like you've been more places than that, was there anywhere particularly interesting?

Colin: Oh, well... My being here is sort of the product of a dimensional shift, so I sort of doubt you would recognize any place names... *finishes wine in one go*

Clara: *opens oven to get the little individual dishes of crème brulée, puts them on tray along with a dish of raspberry sauce*

RanFan: It's always interesting to hear of strange places, like stories. Only you must have quite a few ...

Colin: *laughs self-consciously* You could say that...

Clara: *takes kettle off the stove and pours hot water into the teapot*

RanFan: Surely you could tell us something about your travels ... *makes a disappointed face*

Colin: Um... *very interested in his wine glass, pouring himself a bit more for something to do* Well, it tends to be for work, mostly...

Clara: *puts tea things on the tray with the crème brulée and picks it up*

RanFan: *brightly* What is your work anyway?

Colin: Colin: Oh, well, right now I work for myself, so to speak, as a parole officer. I say so to speak because most of my cases end up being through Central HQ anyway so sometimes I wonder why I even bother...

Clara: *tea things being a porcelain Xingian tea set, yellow glaze with a different Xingian symbol in black on each cup and the teapot*

Colin: *looks around gratefully at the sight of Clara* Oh! You are back! ...New tea set?

Clara: *grins, setting the tray down* Yes, I just bought it at the Xingian import store.... They came in all sorts of different colors, but I remembered you liked yellow....

Colin: *admiring a cup* It is gorgeous. How thoughtful of you!

Clara: Each of the little symbols is a different word in Xingian, um... *glances at the Xingians* ...correct me if I remember these wrong... this one says Love, this one is Hope, um, Peace, Patience, and Happiness.
Clara: Oh, and the teapot just says Tea. *chuckles a bit*
Clara: There's one more cup in the kitchen, it says Luck. *blushes slightly* I'm glad you like them. They're meant to be yours... I hope you don't mind if we borrow them! *chuckles, pouring tea for everyone*

Colin: *wide-eyed* ...For me? Really? Erm, thank you! I'm flattered! I do not think I have had so much done for me since... Well, for a long time? *grinning ear to ear* You are too sweet.

Clara: Well, people should do nice things for you more often, then! *grins, blushing*

Ling: *Looks at the teacups* You got the symbols for Luck and Peace mixed up *Grins* You got 'Teapot' right though

Clara: *laughs* Oh, so close! *passes cups of tea around*

Colin: *trying not to laugh at what Ling said, blushing faintly at Clara*

Fu: *Takes his and takes a sip**Smiles a little and takes another drink*

Ling: *Tries his* Hmmm... this is good ...

Colin: *takes a sip* Mm. This is really good. Where did you say you got it? *admiring his cup*

Clara: Now, this dessert... is something which I'm sure I can't pronounce properly, but it translates to "burnt cream" in Amestrian... it's actually a custard, with a caramelized sugar crust. That's the burnt part...
Clara: ...Which, I might add, hasn't been done yet. *grins, producing a kitchen torch*

Colin: *OMG TORCH COOL ...ahem. Smiles with closely veiled excitement*

Ling: ... *Clara ... with a torch ...**backs up just a bit*

Clara: *to Colin* Oh, that little import store owned by that nice old Xingian man. He's got stuff from other places, too, not just Xing, apparently.

Colin: *watching, fascinated* I like the idea of food cooked with a torch.

Fu: *Perfectly serious* Should I prepare anti-fire tactics should the table cloth become endangered?

Clara: *grinning* This is the fun part! *ignites the torch and starts caramelizing*

RanFan: *Is watching warily*

Colin: *leans forward*

Clara: *sniffs, pretending to be insulted* I'm sure I've got better aim than that!

Ling: It's turning brown ... *is fascinated by the shiny fire*

Clara: Well, yes, it's supposed to, it makes a nice crust on the custard. *finishes with the torch, turning it off*
Clara: Clara: Well, there you go. There's some raspberry sauce for it, too, if you'd like. *passes dishes of crème brulée to everyone*

Ling: *Tries his* ... never tasted anything similar ... this is great! *Digs in*

Colin: *looks happily down at his* It looks... fascinating.

Clara: I made one earlier for practice... this stuff is fantastic! *pours a little raspberry sauce on hers and then cracks through the burnt sugar crust, eating with much happiness*

Ling: *suddenly thinks it tastes like ultra-sweet marshmallows* You're going to have to experiment with the rest of that cookbook ... *is in sugar-induced bliss*

Colin: *pokes it, blinking when the crust breaks and setting down his spoon to take some raspberry sauce, enjoying the color greatly*

Clara: *nods vigorously* Oh, yes, I'm going to be having so much fun with that book!

Colin: I am very inclined to agree with this train of thought. *taking a bite and smiling slowly*

Fu: *Iit's a bit too sweet for his old-man tastes, he politely pushes his back* Again, you did a great job ... I don't believe there's enough praise for you ...

Clara: *grins* I'm glad you approve, because I don't think you could stop me! *trying not to shovel tasty into her mouth, is a lady, dammit*

Colin: *grins at Clara, smirking at her attempted restraint*

Clara: *blinks at Fu* Do you not like it, Fu? I can get you something else, if you'd like, some fruit or something?

Fu: *Shakes head* No thank you Miss. I've stuffed myself like a big roast with everything else ... much more and I'll be sick. *smiles*

Clara: *blinks* Goodness, well, we don't want that, do we? *smiles* ...It was a lot of food, wasn't it? *chuckles a little*

RanFan: *reaches for more after eating hers quicker than Ling*

Colin: I have not eaten like this in ages. *and I mean, AGES*

Clara: Yes, well, you can only do something like this once in a while.

Colin: It was a lovely surprise.

Clara: *scrapes out the last bits of custard from her dish*
Clara: *beams* I'm glad you like it, then.

Ling: *Gets some more**is talking with his mouth half-full* You did enjoy it then! We should find another excuse to this again ...

Clara: *sips carefully at her tea*
Clara: ... Anyone got a birthday coming up?

Colin: Of course I did! Were you having doubts? *laughing, drinking tea*
Colin: *looking at his cup* So... Which character was this again?

Ling: *grins, thinking about RanFan drilling Colin a few moments ago* Of course you enjoyed it! I helped set the table! That was the soul reason of why this looked so great.

Clara: Well... no. But I'm glad. ...I believe that one's Love.

Colin: You are a very talented table-setter, yes. *grins*

Clara: It's my favorite. It's so pretty, and complicated.

Colin: *looks at his cup* Oh, it's very pretty, yes. *smiles at her*

Ling: *laughs and drinks some tea* Where did you find the set?

Clara: *not looking at Colin, la la la la la* Oh, that Xingian import store... I love that place. You should go check it out, this nice old man owns it, he's very funny, you would probably enjoy talking to him.

Clara: *looking at her cup* ...I appeared to have ended up with Hope....

Colin: *very interested in the remains of his custard; denial is not just a river in Egypt*

Ling: *watches, slightly amused ... notices he has 'happiness' ooo irony*

Clara: *sips at her tea* Anyway, if anyone's got a birthday, we could have a party... or, we'll just make up an occasion, why not?

RanFan: *fidgets* You said you're from Aquorya, do you have much family there?

Clara: Ah, yes, all my family is from there.

Colin: Well at least we all have that in common, hm? *laughs* All travelers.

Ling: *glances slyly at Clara* Do you have a boyfriend there?

Colin: *inhales tea and is suddenly very happy that breathing is not an important part of his body functioning*

Clara: *blushes furiously* Ah... no, I, um... don't....
Clara: Goodness, Colin, are you all right?

Colin: Hm? Oh, no. I'm fine. *beams*

Ling: *glances at Colin* And out of curiosity, do you have one? A girlfriend I mean.

Clara: You ought to be careful, the tea's quite hot....

Colin: Oh, no girlfriend. Nope. *shrugs and licks some raspberry sauce off the back of his spoon*

Clara: *sips at her tea, oh so casually, still rather pink*

Colin: *happily drinks his tea*

Ling: *props his chin up on his hands* That's surprising sir, a man like you seems a likely target for lovely women's affections *Grins at Clara*

Colin: *is he... hitting on me?* Oh, *laughs* um, I suppose... Heh. I guess I just tend to have a lot on my mind?

Clara: *stares at Ling, then stares at her teacup, blushing liek woah*

Colin: *Giant. Internal. Smirk. Because deep down, we all know he isn't that oblivious*

Ling: *looks back at Colin* No time for women at all? I'm sure there are some very close to you ...

Colin: Oh, erm.. *blushes very faintly for effect* I guess I am just a bit awkward in those situations?

Ling: I don't see why. Surely there's someone you're familiar with. *smiles like he doesn't know what he's talking about *

Clara: *sneaks a peek at Colin, then busies herself with drinking tea, hiding behind her teacup*

Ling: *Take that back ... smile eviiiilllly*

Colin: *mental sigh; killing dinner guests is bad etiquette. Damn.* Well I have female acquaintances, of course. And I definitely would call Clara a good friend. *smiles amiably*

Clara: *smiles, still blushing a little*

Ling: *grins* Miss Clara would certainly be a good prospect *looks at her* That is, if Miss Clara isn't professional enough to object. *smiles playfully* I'm kidding of course! *Not*

Clara: ................................

Colin: *blinks a few times before laughing* Ling, are you trying to play matchmaker? Because if you are not, you went wrong somewhere.

Clara: *ponders drowning herself in her teacup*

Colin: *grins at her with a hint of pity*
Colin: *...and ponders hitting Ling with the teapot but lucky for Ling, Colin likes his presents*

Ling: *Smiles innocently* Of course not! I merely thought you two would look nice together. It's a shame neither of you have a mate!

Clara: *glances at Colin, grins back uncertainly, then becomes very interested by a candle*
Clara: *cannot be any redder, nope*

Colin: Um... *laughs self-consciously* Well, at least you recognize the fact that we are both very attractive. Thank you.

Clara: *giggles*

Ling: Especially Miss Clara! *Grins at her* Wouldn't anyone be proud to have her as a girlfriend, at the very least?

Colin: *smiles winningly* Perhaps you would like to take her out sometime, Ling?

Clara: *blushing* Ah... thank you?
Clara: *blinks* No offense to young Mister Ling, but... how old are you?

Colin: *mutters to her behind a napkin* I was kidding I hope you know...

Ling: *Also smiles* I'm afraid my family doesn't approve of interracial relationships ... and I'm afraid Fu is a tad too old for her ... *smirks*

Colin: Your father. He sounds very strict, am I correct?

Ling: *waves a hand dismissively* And I'm fifteen, miss.

Clara: *shrugs at Colin, goes back to drinking tea*

Colin: *smiles apologetically at her* More tea?

Clara: *has drained her cup* Err... yes, thank you.

Colin: *pours* We should keep this tea in regular supply, I think.

Clara: Mm, yes, it's fantastic. *I LIKE TALKING ABOUT TEA, YES, LET'S TALK ABOUT TEA!!!*

Ling: Yes ... he can be very strict. *nonchalantly* You two should tea shop sometime, I'm afraid I don't know much about the subject ... Miss Clara is probably more inclined to know what you like anyway.

Clara: *....... smile?*

Colin: *smiles serenely back* Well there was the time we went to the little tea room down by the business district... But that wasn't shopping.

Ling: A day out? Those are nice sometimes ... *drinks*

Clara: ...Oh yes, that was fun. We should do that again sometime, maybe....

Colin: Mm. *takes a sip* I was showing her around a bit, since that was just after she had arrived.

Ling: How long have you worked for Mister Renfield, Miss Clara?

Clara: *thinks* Um... since mid-June, I think.... *sips at her tea carefully*

Colin: Has it been that long already? *finishes his, idly turning the cup in his hands*

Clara: *smiles* Time flies, doesn't it? It's been quite the busy summer.

Colin: ...No kidding! *smiles*

RanFan: *is reduced to fidgeting again* You said you were a parole officer sir, is that all you do in Central?

Colin: *laughs sheepishly, leaning back in his chair* Um, you could say that... But things have been a bit... quirky... in that area this summer.
Colin: I've been much more useful defending Clara against the many perils of Central that seem to have been hunting her down recently..

RanFan: Perils ...? *worried expression*

Colin: Oh, do not worry. Nothing we did not handle!

Clara: ...Eheh....

Colin: Indeed.

Ling: Central has proven to have some interesting characters, *smile* is there anyone we should watch out for?

Colin: Erm... Well that depends. How is your sense of adventure?

Clara: Stay far far away from a Homunculus named Gluttony! *eyes wide*
Clara: And you already know to avoid Alphonse.... *sips at her tea, frowning*

Colin: I believe those would be the two main threats... Depending on who you talk to.

Ling: *blinks* Gluttony? The big stupid guy who almost ate me?

Colin: *stops an eyeroll* Encountered him already, I see.

Clara: Yes, that would be the one. *eyes wider* Did he really? I'm so sorry....

Ling: Yeah ... interesting guy ...

Colin: You seem to have gotten through it pretty well. Considering...

Clara: Clara: ........Interesting. Right. *drinks tea, sort of pale*

Colin: *half-smiles at her* Sorry.

Fu: Is he a major threat? *frowns*

Clara: *smiles weakly at Colin, waving a hand dismissively* Eh....

Colin: Er, you could say that. He's dangerous in himself, but he is less malevolent than just... easily angered. Don't piss him off and you may be fine.

RanFan: That might be difficult for Young Master not to irritate someone ... *sips her tea*

Colin: *snerks* Oh my...

Clara: *stares at Colin* Unless he's hungry!

Ling:*would roll his eyes if they weren't so squinty* I'm quite charming. I've seemed to please Mister Renfield enough ... *grins*

Colin: Oh yes, very good point.
Colin: *blinks at Ling* Erm... Yes, you have been a big help.

Ling: I've been doing whatever I can to repay you! *Pretends to be oblivious*

Colin: Oh, it's no trouble, really! *feeling soooo sketchy right now*

Ling: No, really! We would be starving on the street right now if you hadn't helped us! There must be something else we can do! *gestures to Fu and RanFan* We've talked about it, if you ever need a favour outside of house work, just ask.

Colin: Oh, well what was I supposed to do? Just leave you there to keep rifling through peoples houses?
Colin: Oh my, er, thank you! I am honored!

Clara: *raises her eyebrow* You really shouldn't have done that, you know. I understand you were hungry, but still....

Ling: *smiles ruefully* Well, everyone else did ...

Clara: Oh dear, what is this city coming to? *sighs*

Colin: *shrugs* Not everyone has the assets at hand I do, or the capabilities of putting up, let alone employing travelers.

Ling: Ah, true. A push in the right direction would have been nice though, oh well! We're here now!

Clara: *smiles* Thank goodness for that, hm? I've been very grateful for the help, and the company.

Ling: *beams at Clara* You've been much too kind also ... though, I'm still not sure why two people like yourselves aren't 'together'.

Colin: *laughs* I guess I've got to do something this this house. I mean, otherwise it would just sort of go to waste.
Colin: --Ehm.

Clara: *blushes* ...Ah....

RanFan: *covers face*

Colin: You seem very adamant, Ling. *raises eyebrows*

Clara: *has to remind herself that suicide is a hell worthy sin*

Ling: *tilts head* I'm merely curious *Can't you see the halo?*

RanFan: *In a weak voice* Young Master has played Match Maker before ...

Colin: Oh. Really? Did anything come of this? *killing guests is BAD*
Colin: *gesturing vaguely between RanFan and Ling* How about yourselves? Sure traveling so far together... *smiles sweetly*

Ling: *Brightly* A few turned out ...
Ling: eh...

RanFan: *Sinks*

Colin: *makes sure Ling isn't looking to give RanFan an apologetic glance*

Clara: *watches with interest from behind her teacup*

Ling: Well, master/servant relationships are usually frowned upon ... plus we've known each other since childhood ... *oh noez the tables have turned!*

RanFan: *Sees Colin's look and smiles weakly*

Colin: Oh, has that been known to stop people? *grins innocently* Or perhaps a son of such an esteemed family already has an arranged marriage?

Ling: *Smiles* Arranged marriages aren't so uncommon for Xingians. Though, perhaps the master / servant thing is an issue with you? Unless women aren't your preference?

Clara: *chokes on her tea*

Colin: I have never had any servants, so I suppose I would not know. *inclines his head slightly* I also notice how you seem to have avoided the question?

Ling: *Smirk flashes across his face* You've avoided my question too. Something in there must be true. It won't due to leave your help in the dark ... we don't know who we're working for.

Clara: *stares at Ling, not sure whether to be more appalled by what he's suggesting or his lack of tact*

RanFan: *Has decided the cushions will never be deep enough*

Fu: ... *highly amused* *Hmm, tea.*

Colin: I have nothing against dating women, if that is what you are implying. But perhaps you speak from personal experience? And as for who you are working for, do I give off the impression of any great secrets?

Clara: *looks at RanFan with great sympathy*

Colin: Coming from someone who pointedly avoids talking about any precise details of his own personal history or business... *smiles amiably*

Clara: *is now looking at Colin, slightly appalled*

Colin: *catches the look, giving her a comforting smile*

Clara: *smiles back, uncertainly, then goes back to contemplating the depths of her teacup*

Ling: I have nothing against dating women myself. I've had several female consorts in the past.
Ling: It only seems odd that you appear to have had none, and seem to avoid that topic as though you've never touched the likes ... *smiles brightly*

Clara: *stares at Ling, blushing furiously*
Clara: Goodness, do we have to discuss this at the dinner table?!
Clara: Do we have to discuss this at all?!

Ling: You haven't been very adiment about your business either, sir. Perhaps there is something besides being an officer that you indulge in?
Ling: *Smiles at Clara* Sorry Miss ... it was rude of me ...

RanFan: *Wishes to beat him with a very large, blunt object*

Colin: Oh, well I suppose not all of us are blessed with such ample amounts of free time.
Colin: Colin: It might also interest you to know that Amestris has some very reputable medical facilities if your endeavors have caused you any, er, problems. *makes a point of not looking at Clara*

Clara: COLIN!

Colin: Just trying to be helpful. *shrugs*

Clara: ..........................
Clara: ...That was very rude!

Colin: It was, wasn't it?

Clara: Clara: *staaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaare*

Colin: Colin: *looks as innocent as possible*

Ling: *smiles* I appreciate your concern, but I've never had any such issues. I'm sure they are useful to know of though ... have the men in such facilities Amastris had many problems? I'm sure you would know personally.

Clara: *briskly* Excuse me. *makes to leave*

RanFan: *stands also*Quickly* I'll help you clean the kitchen Miss Clara ...

Clara: *glares at Ling and, nodding at RanFan, heads for the kitchen*

Colin: *starts to reply before noticing Clara* As a matter of fact, I don't. Er- Clara? *facepalmfacepalmargh*

Ling: *Also starts when he sees them leaving* Er ... RanFan ...

Clara: *pointedly ignores Colin and vanishes into the kitchen*

RanFan: *Shoots a very nasty glare at Ling and follows Clara*

Ling: Whoops ... *turns to Colin*

Colin: *grins sheepishly* ...No kidding.

Clara: *in the kitchen, fuming* Ooooooooooh, I cannot believe them!!!

RanFan: *Face is still red* Young Master oversteps his bounds ... *sighs*

Colin: ...*hears sounds of fuming and bites his lip, trying not to look as amused as he is*

Ling: *blinks* Should we apologize to them?

Colin: That depends... How much do you like eating out?

Clara: Is he usually like that? ...I cannot believe Colin...!

Colin: Colin: ...And dirty laundry...

Colin: Colin: ...And the business end of a broom...

Ling: *chews on tongue* And stars being thrown at your head ...

Ling: ... or a battle axe ...

Colin: Good gods... Apologize, then?

RanFan: *Nods* Yes, he can be. I cannot excuse this behavior for him ... *starts gathering dishes*

Ling: I'd say so ... should we expect them to clean up after this? They did sit through some pretty vulgar things ...

Colin: *gets up and starts stacking the custard dishes and silver*

Clara: I have never know Colin to be anything other than polite, I don't understand it.... *grabs a pan and turns on the hot water, scrubbing at it furiously*

Colin: Yes, I do not think Clara has seen me in the company of anyone less polite than herself so... This was definitely a new experience for her...

RanFan: *neatly stacks the dishes next to Clara* It is my Master's bad influence ... I'm sure ...

Colin: *finishes gathering dishes, looking nervously at the door* Um... How brave do you feel?

Ling: *laughs sheepishly and also gathers some dishes* I did start it ... *stares at the door*
Ling: You first?
Ling: It's your house.

Clara: Well, both of them had better learn to keep a civil tongue in this house! *scrub scrub grr*

Colin: Oh, no. Like you said. You are the instigator! Also, guests should always go before the host. It is only polite.

Ling: ... but it's your house ... And you are less likely to be hit with flying objects. You wouldn't want to bleed on your carpet, would you?

Colin: You so sure about that? I've never seen Clara this angry... I'm sure she is less likely to throw things at you and you wouldn't want the added bonus of her anger at having to scrub blood out of the carpet, would you?

RanFan: *wipes off the counters. Hears the boys outside the door* Perhaps next time we have preparations for such talk ... *grumbles*

Colin: Besides *smiles sweetly* My hands are full of dishes. I need someone to open the door for me.

Ling: *Looks over to a dozing Fu*

Ling: *Ehhem.* Fu ... FU

Colin: ...Innocent victim?

Fu: *Jerks awake*

Clara: *raises an eyebrow* Preparations? ...Such as? *sets a pan to soak, continues scrubbing at the first one*

Ling: *Grins and nods* Fu, would you open the door? *too sweetly*

Colin: Or maybe take these dishes into the kitchen while I blow out the candles?

Fu: *looks between them ... unsure of the motive since he had missed the angry girls part* Er ... yes sir ... *gets up and takes Colin's dishes*

Colin: How kind; thank you! *goes to blow out the candles and push in the chairs*

RanFan: Such as putting something distasteful in their drinks ... or making use of the stars have keep on me; I could show you how to throw them

Ling: *moves out of Fu's way*

Fu: *frowns and pushes the kitchen door open*

Colin: *pushing in the chair nearest the door as it closes after Fu, beckoning to Ling* Uh... You might want to hear this...

Clara: *blinks at RanFan* ...Ah... I'm not sure it's necessary to resort to violence.... ^_^;;;

Ling: *claps hands together* Pray for him.

Colin: ...To every god I know of.

Clara: *notices Man entering her kitchen, shoots him a Deathglare™*
Clara: ...... Oh, it's just you, Fu....
Clara: Thank you very much for helping clean up! How decent of you....

Fu: *jumps when he feels ANGER focused on him* Ahem ... *blinks* No problem, Clara ...

Clara: ...Unlike some other people I could name.

Colin: *taking his dear sweet time folding the napkins, stacking them neatly in a pile*

RanFan: *takes Fu's dishes* Young Master deserves a consequence for this ...

Ling: *leans closer to the door*

Clara: Here, you can set those over here, by the sink. *rinses her pan and puts it in the dishrack*

Colin: *discreetly mimicks Ling*

Fu: *looks between Clara and RanFan* I'm inclined to agree with you *because MAN is a very dirty word right now*

Clara: ..........Well, he's your Master. I don't imagine I would think to try and stop you. *scrubscrub*

Colin: *mutters to Ling* I think they've stopped plotting our deaths...

Ling: *in a low voice* You sure ...? *is highly suspicious*

Colin: *muttermutter* Well on the up-side, Clara did not seem too interested in RanFan's offer to teach her how to throw star-things...

RanFan: *sighs and sets down the dishes* He could run away too quickly anyway ...

Ling: *nods* True. *stands* I guess I'll go first ... *slowly opens the door*

Colin: How honorable! *gets behind*

Clara: Oh, is he good at running away, then?

Ling: *snorts* Coward. *peers into the kitchen*

Clara: *sees door opening, GLAAAAAAAAAARE*

Colin: No. I just like these clothes. Now go.

Ling: *MEEP**Clears throat and steps in* Ah heh ... misses ..., and Fu. *smiles nervously*

Colin: Napkins? *holds out helpfully*

Clara: *glaaaaaaaare* Laundry.

Colin: Of course! *heads to the linen closet and the hamper, hoping her glare won't burn holes in his suit*

RanFan: *Sniffs* And give me those, *takes the few dishes Ling still has* *SILENT TREATMENT*

Clara: *scrubs pan with great scorn*

Ling: ... um ... *inches his way to Clara* Do you ... need, er, help?

Clara: No I don't think so.

Colin: *returns warily, standing by Ling and trying to look helpful by association*
Colin: *oh goodness, I've dealt with worse... * Erm, I am sorry, Clara.

Fu: *finds a corner and watches*

Clara: *not looking at him, scrub scrub* Oh?

Ling: *bows* And I too! We were out of line!

Colin: It was, uh... tactless of me. And of Ling. And he started it so please don't screw up my clothes.

Ling: You kept it going What he said. *is still bowing*

Clara: *puts the dishes down and turns towards them, regarding them coldly* Well, I'll say you were!

Colin: You provoked me! And we're very sorry.

RanFan: *Is rinsing the dishes* ... Your father would be ashamed ...

Colin: *shoots Ling an "Ouch" look*

Ling: It'll never happen around them again!

Colin: We promise! Whatyousaid

Clara: *sort of low-level glaring and tapping her fingers on the counter* Mmhmm.

RanFan: *sniffs again* It's up to you Miss Clara.

[A space of time passes in silence ...]

Colin: (10:47:04 PM): Colin: *trying to look as endearing as he can*

[More time passes ...]

Ling: *Oh the torture!* ... *back is starting to cramp*

[... still more time passes, and Colin and Ling wonder if Clara will every say anything ...]

Colin: (10:47:58 PM): Colin: *watching Ling, wondering if maybe he should bow too*

[Nope. Hasn't said anything yet ...]

Clara: *glances at RanFan, raising her eyebrows, then looks at Ling* Oh, stand up, will you?

Colin: *can't believe this is happening. Reeeeally.*

Ling: *brightens* Yes ma'm!

RanFan: *chuckles ... but not loud enough to be heard*

Fu: *comes out of the corner* Is the domestic situation resolved then?

Colin: *give him a Look*

Fu: *raises eyebrow* I didn't start shit

Clara: *regards Ling and Colin for a second, hands on her hips, then sighs* Well, I suppose the best I can hope for is that this doesn't happen
again. I admit to being quite angry still....
Clara: Apologies accepted, or something.... *turns back to her dishes*

Colin: *tentative smile* Understandably so. Why don't you let us do the dishes, hm?

Ling: ... *blinks* Yeah ... um, let us finish ...

Colin: You did a wonderful job with dinner. The cook shouldn't clean.

Clara: *turns and looks at them for a second* Fair enough. I'm going to bed. Come on, RanFan. *breezes out of the kitchen*

Colin: *watches them go with a sigh of relief, turning to Ling* I wash, you rinse?

RanFan: *nods and follows quietly*

Ling: Yeah, *replaces RanFan's spot*

Colin: *makes with the washing*
