Hey...I've never commented in your LJ, but I felt like I had to say something.

I'm from the South, technically, and voted for Kerry. Most people I know, most of my friends from the South, voted for Kerry. I have a friend, born and raised in Richmond, VA and going to William and Mary who worked her ass off on the Kerry campaign this summer and continued to work at W&M until around 2 PM yesterday. We're not all religious, gun-owning, NASCAR-loving rednecks. A good number of us are intelligent, well-read, educated, thinking people. We were just outvoted this time. Please don't think of anything south of DC like that. The stereotype gets old, and I haven't even really encountered it up here until now.

Sorry if anything I said offended you, but I had to say something.

Yah, I can totally see how my post would offend someone like yourself, who happens to be from the South... I actually didn't realize that anyone with Southern ties read my journal. lol. I'm pretty surprised that you took it so well.

Anyway, I'm definitely aware of the fact that not every Southerner fits the stereotype, just as - by no means - is everyone from New England or the Northwest progressive. Still, we all know which regions lit up red.

What can I say? I can't help but be bitter.
