Day 81, Gunter's world, late morning

Sep 29, 2011 13:32

Gunter wasn't expecting to see sunlight so bright when he woke up. He was pretty sure Josak's room was usually kept rather dark. But as he got a little more aware of his surroundings, he wasn't in Josak's room at all. It looked a bit like the riverbank he was fishing at a few years back. If that was the case, then there should be some sort of ( Read more... )

Yozak groaned as the world came back into focus. He had been in the baths, washing off after training, and then... Then what? He couldn't remember. Everything went black. Did he pass out? Go under? Did someone pull him out?

He rubbed his eyes and stared up. Up at wooden boards. There was sunlight, and a breeze. He could hear birds. He turned his head one way, then the other, and decided he was laid out on a porch.

"I know I haven't been drinking," he announced, sitting up and trying to figure just what the hell was going on.

Gunter was staring at the house trying to figure it all out when he saw a flash of orange sit up. He'd had enough fun with redheads in this timeline, but that build was unmistakeable. What was Josak doing here? He dusted himself off and headed towards the house. He didn't mind having to leave the past, but he doubted anyone really wanted to come with him. Though, maybe it was better it was Josak than anyone else. After all, the majority of people in this time were mixed breeds. Plus, he made for fun company.

When he got closer he called out and waved. "Fancy meeting you here. It seems that it was time for me to come back, somewhat. Though I'm not sure exactly when this is. This is a house I once visited a number of years ago."

"Hm?" Yozak got to his feet, but only so much that he could sit down on the steps. He saw Gunter, and felt relieved that he wasn't alone, but he didn't like what his friend was saying. He knew all about doubles and people vanishing at odd places and times - he just didn't think it would happen to him. And he couldn't recall a time when the vanishing happened to more than one person at a time.

"This is ... your world then?" Or time. Whatever. Well, good. He was sober as could be. Bad that he really was not where he was supposed to be, and getting back home was up to fate. And everyone he knew was dead. There was also that. He blew out a breath. "Well, shit."

"The Hell?" Gwendal shouted as he seemed to snap into consciousness. The last thing he remembered he was asleep in his own bed with his hearing freshly restored snug and warm...

Now he was waist deep in a river and the current was a bit strong.

He waded quickly to the shore confused as to why he was wearing his military uniform when he clearly remembered wearing his pastel green robe and nothing more to bed last night. But then, he didn't go to bed in a river either.

"That is a shame that such a leader would not take the time to learn this history of his kingdom. Those that do not know history are doomed to repeat it," Gwendal sagely pointed out.

He thought it was interesting that the pure-blooded demons of this world were so disorganized. Were they a threat to the majority? A dis-enfranchised minority was often ignored, until their discontent began to surmount their reason.

This world was probably in trouble with an arrogant, ignorant Maou and some powerful enemies waiting for an opportunity.

"If we end up stranded in this world for a few days then I will want to meet with the Maou. Educate him."

Yozak puffed his cheeks and crossed his arms behind his head. "Think he'd care any about being educated? He didn't want Gunter around, and we're just strangers from some other time and place. I don't know about you, but I don't feel like putting myself in any big shot's sights."

"Good point. It might be a nice respite to avoid responsibility for once in our lives."

He rolled back his shoulders and cracked his neck from side to side to loosen his joints. "Yuuri is enough of a challenge, but at least he has a good heart and head on his shoulders--though he may be a bit off sometimes in matters of diplomacy."
