Day 85, Evening

Jan 04, 2012 11:21

Ken braced himself against the wall when he heard the first explosion, followed quickly by the rest, and the rumble of the wall breaking and falling. The floor shook, or maybe he was shaking. It really worked. He wasn't sure it would. He wasn't sure he wanted it to. There was no taking it back now ( Read more... )

Yuuri had just finished giving Alford a tour of the castle. It was a nice way to pass the time and Yuuri had enjoyed spending time with the hero. He asked a few odd questions, but who wouldn't be confused. Yuuri was experienced in the confusion Shin Makouku often offered ( ... )

Ken peered a corner, and took a breath. The king was here, as he thought. And he hadn't run off to see what the commotion was, yet, so Ken would have to make his move now, or else Yuuri would get away, or someone might come to protect him when they discovered the source of the explosion.

He stepped out into the hall and approached the king. There was no need to act timid or nervous - he really was. Every nerve in his body was screaming that he should be packing his bag and making his escape - from the castle and Julia.

"Um... Yuu... Your Majesty. Hi." He sighed, frustrated. He'd planned this better in his head. Shit. How was he supposed to get this guy to follow him?

Yuuri turned at the familiar voice, somewhere in his head he wasn't surprised at how Murata seemed to be unphased for the most part. "Didn't you feel that?" This was the other Murata, he noticed as the boy got closer.

Perhaps he was overreacting- as the explosion got further and further in the past it felt almost unreal. Had he been imagining it? "What's going on? You heard that, right? We have to get out of here." Yuuri reached out to take Muratas hand.

Better safe then sorry, he thought, if it was one of Anissinas experiments that could be just as dangerous.

He drew a sharp intake of breath when Yuuri took his hand, but he didn't pull away. If it helped his cause, he would tolerate the king touching him. Though it was same hand Wolf had held, and that conversation immediately swirled back to the front of his mind. He shook it away.

"Yeah, I felt something. I don't know what it was." Get out of here? Really... This guy just handed everything to him... "I...I think I know a place were we can go, until things calm down...?"

He curled his fingers lightly around Yuuri's - it felt strange, to hold someone else's hand - and tugged him down the hall.

Gunter hated not having a solid plan. Right now it was to go in, have someone get the maou out and attack the blind woman. There was apparently another factor, but there were three of them, so hopefully things would work out. He really didn't have much of a plan to fight her, however ( ... )

Wolf was ready for this! He’d just been working out his muscles earlier and couldn’t wait to get into a situation where he could use them. He nodded at Gunter and Yozak, he and Yozak could easily kick open the door without resorting to Maryoku. He didn't bother asking why, and just assumed Gunter knew what he was talking about. He braced himself and got into position.

There wasn't any time to waste!

"Lets do this!" He didn't want to spend time waiting around, every minute counted and each of them needed to stay calm. His main concern was Yuuri and he would do anything to protect the Maoh.

Without an answer from Murata Yuuri turned his attention back to Julia. Unlike Julia he'd had time with this Murata, he was shy, quiet and nice. There was no way he'd do something like this on his own!

Just as he opened his mouth to say more the door flew open and Yuuri turned his head away form Julia to see what had happened. When the dust from the unused chapel cleared he saw his saviors; Yozak, Wolfram and Gunter.

Yozak pulled his sword free and joined the other two facing the doors. He held up three fingers, then two, then one, then - with Wolf - delivered a hard kick to the doors. They buckled in, but held. One more blow, and the latch burst and they flew inward.

Julia was straight ahead, and Yuuri between them. Shadows seemed to cling to her - she was getting ready to attack, he guessed. But Yuuri was standing. He seemed to be okay. The Great Sage's double was off the side - very close but scrambling away.

“This is no time to argue!! Let Gunter handle it.” Wolf glared at Yuuri, and snarled at Ken when he saw him at the door. It was all so wrong. If he wasn’t in battle mode, his head would be really messed up right now. When the King wouldn’t budge, he gave an impatient growl.“Yuuri...” He encouraged the King’s and stepped sideways towards the door. He was intent on keeping an eye on both Ken and anything coming towards the King. There wasn’t anything for him to worry about at the moment because Julia was focused on Gunter. That could change at any minute though ( ... )

Ken stayed where he was. He didn't speak, even when the king implored him. Just held his knife a little higher and glared a little harder, and waited for Wolf to cross his path. He could put up a pretty good fight. But could he really stop the king from escaping ( ... )

Julia's attack pushed him back and broke through his weak shield. Though, thankfully he still had the shield, as the damage would have been tremendous had he not had it up. He deflected her magic with his forearm, which burned with a familiar and none too welcome pain.

Why was her magic stronger than last? It wasn't that long ago that they fought. Was she not serious then? No, he knew she was quite serious ( ... )

That was that, then. The prisoners were taken care of, the king and Wolf were on their way to get some rest, and Gunter was off to bed ( ... )

Hube was not far from Gwendal’s side but once they arrived at the aftermath of the scene it was clear that things had already been taken care of. One guard involved noted that the King had been attacked by a otherworld version of Julia and Murata but Gunter, Wolfram, Yozak and Alford had intervened. Hube looked a bit disgruntled, he’d missed the fighting.

“The person known as Yozak will have the details you need.” He told Gwendal. He knew that whole thing down in the garden had been a diversion. It was an interesting strategy for the overconfident, and clearly Julia had not taken his warning and underestimated Shibuya.

"Do you still wish to find him?"

"Thank you, Hube. Your assistance has been much appreciated it. You have proven yourself very useful today. Your skills are quite impressive," Gwendal complimented the cyborg.

He caught up to Yozak in the hall and clapped his hand on the man's shoulder. "Good job, soldier. I'll expect a full report in the morning. I think the terrorists will be just fine nursing their loss in the dungeons."

He knew that Yozak disliked reports. "And if you do a good job with your report I'll give you a nice budget for a new wardrobe update."

Yozak took the compliment gratefully (it always felt good to be acknowledged) and smiled over at Gwendal. "Thank you, sir. Though, I didn't do much." Just kept the double of the Sage from leaving, and dealt with the aftermath.

"Julia and the Murata double shouldn't be near each other. I don't now how far apart they need to be, but I've got them on opposite ends of the castle right now."

A wardrobe update? That was a good incentive. He would have to use his best penmanship. Briefly, he wondered if Gunter would be up to helping him out - but the man would probably be in too much pain or drunk before long. "Don't worry, sir. You'll have your report first thing tomorrow."
