DAY 90, Morning

Apr 18, 2012 15:35

This world - this castle, at least - was always full of surprises. That, Julia could count on. It was just a matter of waiting for the right one, and seizing the opportunity. Unfortunately, the surprises were as troublesome as they were helpful, as they did not discriminate. While she found a door opened - both figuratively and quite literally, she ( Read more... )

Anissina had been looking for Gwendal. Usually at this time of day he was practicing with his sword or reading some document on diplomacy. But she promised to help him with his knitting and he was nowhere to be found. Not to mention there weren't any adults around and most of the guards seemed to have abandoned their posts. It was rather unusual, but Queen Cheri had done some strange things sometimes.

She had turned down a hall hoping to find Gwendal hiding in the library, but only made it a few steps when she saw Julia. She had met her once or twice before at some fancy gatherings, but she was alone this time. "Julia? How come you're at the capital? Is there a meeting between the nobles that brought you here today?" If Gwendal wanted to hide, fine. She'll find him later.

This was going to be another problem. If everyone was changed to children, she could not identify them by their voices, or even their physical characteristics if she were to touch them (actually or with magic).

She smiled easily. "No," she said smoothly. "Just a pleasure visit." She had spent little time with the nobles in her own world, as a child or adult, and was unaware of this world's Julia's relationships. "How are you?" she asked. There would have to be some clue to who she was talking.

"Oh." She thought it weird that there weren't adults around, but even stranger that Julia was here, too. The von Wincott's weren't often there for a visit - at least that she knew. She came a lot to play with Gwendal and avoid her brother's chickens. But maybe she came while Anissina was back home. She really had no idea.

"I'm fine. I was looking for Gwendal, though. Might you know where he is hiding? I was supposed to help him with something today." And him not being around was making her a little angry, actually. "You heading somewhere in particular?"

"Oh, no. I'm just wandering about." She waved a hand around. "My escort seems to have disappeared, so I've decided to strike out on my own. You're the first person I've encountered, I'm afraid. I don't know where Gwendal could be." She shrugged apologetically.
