Day 94, mid-morning

Sep 07, 2012 00:10

Gunter got to spend time with his surrogate daughter, which wasn't too bad. Though, the storm hindered most of hsi possibilities and the lack of maryoku just was weird. He slept in, curious to the singed clothing in the room, but didn't give it too much thought. He flirted his way through a light, late breakfast and now was looking for something or ( Read more... )

Ken was holding a rather large stone (large for him - it really wasn't all that impressive when compared to what other workers were hauling), and very nearly dropped it when Gunter not only approached him, but leaned into his personal space and said that. Oh, sure. The question might be innocent. Except for the memory behind it. He took a hasty step back and cleared his throat.

"U-um... I... um... fine..." Well, no. He'd left the potions in the old room. He shifted the stone's weight. "Are you here to help?"

"Hmm...." He looked around a bit. "It looks like things are covered mostly around here. I was simply strolling through. Though, if you're going to be lifting large things, you'll want to lift properly to not injure yourself." He squatted slightly and took the stone from Ken and walked it to where the others were putting the debris. "Use your knees. If you're sore later from all your hard work, I've been told that my massages are somewhat impressive." Though they were usually far more than just a normal massage by the end of the day.

He relinquished the stone without a fight (it really was getting heavy), but felt about three times smaller at the same time. After all, the wall was his fault to begin with, and everyone here was capable of doing more to clear away the damage than he could.

"Thanks," he said quietly. His face felt a bit hot. God, he wasn't blushing, was he? "But ... I think I'll be fine."

Gunter shrugged. "Offer stands if you change your mind."

He looked around the courtyard some more. No one was really paying attention to them and Ken's blush didn't go unnoticed. He actually thought it was cute and wondered how much harder he could push him. But there was something that was bothering him about the area around them. "I wonder if it is terribly wise for you to be so exposed here." He heard Julia was missing and Ken was here favorite source of magic it seemed. But then again, he'd be more than willing to fight her again.

Yozak had encountered fleeing soldiers in the hall, and had known something had been happening in the courtyard. It only took a few questions to figure out that it was Julia. That Julia and Gunter were duking it out. That he had a lot to be worried out. But there were frightened, injured people, and getting them away from Julia was paramount. So he rallied up those who were able-bodied and set them about dragging off those who had been struck down, and sent them all off to the infirmary. Even Ken had been found and carried out of range ( ... )

Gunter barely had strength to move, but the voice was familiar and he felt somewhat comforted. "Josak..." His voice was tired. "Would he be disappointed in me?" Whether he that Gunter was referring to was his lover or Yuuri - even he wasn't too sure.

Yozak kept his hand on Gunter's head, and shook his. "Don't matter. Are you disappointed?" He looked over to where Julia lay. "She wouldn't have stopped. You know that. She can't hurt anyone anymore."

"I haven't taken life in what feels like three lifetimes. I suppose, in a way, I do." But he was relieved it was all over. He was free to pursue happiness once again, Ken was free of her grasp, and no one had to worry where she was hiding or what she was going to do. It was a necessary deed.

"Will you help me inside. The ground is a little hard."

Bert's nice, quiet morning was a bit ruined. In part by a slight fever and a case of the sniffles, but more when some guard came to get Gisela for some sort of incident. Apparently Gunter was fighting Julia again. Great. She was pretty crazy and he did worry about her throwing knives and shit.

Since Gisela was busy with the patients, she sent him to check on the situation (being a non-maryoku user again) and here he was walking towards the already broken courtyard with a mask on his face. (Which was rather frustrating when he had to sneeze). He didn't quite expect to see Josak carrying Gunter like a bride - except Gunter didn't look so good.

He waved at Josak to get his attention. "Oi, he alive?"

Yozak was so focused on just getting to his destination, he didn't notice the other man at first. He jolted a bit, then relaxed and nodded at Bert. "Yeah. Banged up, though. Can't say the same for Julia." He nodded back at the courtyard, where Julia's body remained, until now forgotten. He pulled Gunter in closer, protective and fearful. "I need to get him to help." Until that last spell, he hadn't seemed badly hurt. But now...

He glanced into the courtyard full of debris once again. He saw a heap that might have had a body in it and shook his head and looked away quickly. Seeing Julia dead once was enough. He didn't need to see it again even if she was a crazy bitch.

He noticed Gunter snuggle a tiny bit closer to Josak and snorted briefly. He just seemed clingy and a bit dirty to him, but he was sent to assess and this was kinda important, he guessed. "C'mon. I'll hold the doors. Gisela and everyone's already workin' on some injured guys, but only a few were in any sorta bad shape."

Yozak breathed a sigh. "Thanks." He started walking again, taking up a quick pace.

Only a few in bad shape. In the hurry to get everyone to safety, it had been hard to tell. That was a relief. Bert didn't mention any deaths. Maybe they got lucky, then. "Did Ken make it to the infirmary?" He'd only moved the kid out of the range and told one of the soldiers to take him. He didn't actually stay to make sure it had been done.

Yozak set the food nearby and sat down near Gunter’s feet so he could get the man’s boots off. “If you think of anything, let me know. I’m at your beck and call today.” Though he figured Gunter would want to rest more than anything. And he - reluctantly - would set about clearing up the room. It really was overdue. But he didn’t want the smell to set into his more valuable clothes. It would ruin their allure.

"How that would be magical words on any other day." He laughed lightly. "I think after I eat a little, I'll probably let myself sleep. I think I've regained enough strength that I'm not worried about that." Not that he'd be able to use his very much in the next day or so, but he was fine with that. There wasn't any more Julia, after all.

"Sounds good." He set the boots on the floor, and grabbed the food, unwrapping the towel so he could get at what was inside. He'd taken only what was already sliced up, so all he had to do was put the pieces together and hand them over. No one ever mistook Yozak Gurrier for a culinary mastermind (unless he was wanted them to). He sought out a glass for the juice, then reconsidered. The bottle was cleaner.

It would make eating easier if he sat up properly, though he really didn't want to. He was comfortable. But he also lacked the strength to push himself up. He hated to have to rely on someone for so very much. "Josak, I hate to have to ask you, but can you prop me up?" He hoped he would regain enough strength to function on his own soon or he'd really have to ask for assistance in mundane things.
