Day 94, Late Evening

Sep 18, 2012 12:40

Gisela was finally free of the infirmary. Most of the patients who had suffered Julia's attack had gone home to the their families. Those who hadn't were being looked after by nurses, but would be just fine given rest and time. She, was just plain tired. Julia's maryoku was draining, and made her feel wretched, and all she really wanted a bath and ( Read more... )

Bert was so bored. He hadn't missed a tv as much as he did right now. The only thing in the room were gisela's books - the native ones he couldn't read and the ones they'd brought. He had no desire to even try and look at the pictures. When he wasn't fading in and out of sleep, he was thinking about food and wondering when Gisela was going to come back. The infirmary was busy, so he had a feeling she might not be back until late.

But to his surprise, it wasn't too late when he heard the door open (although, without a clock and being terribly bored, it felt late) and he sat up a little. "Welcome back, babe. Everyone all better?" He sneezed.

"Not quite." She shut the door, moved across the room with shuffling steps to the bed. "But the worst is over. I'll make some rounds in the morning, but I'm positive everyone will recover, and soon." She sat on the bed, facing him, and placed a hand on his forehead. "How do you feel?"

"Bored." He felt more fatigued than actually sick. But he knew he was probably still running a fever and still sneezed from time to time. It was irritating.

"Hm. You've got a fever." She took her hand away. "You should get more sleep." Maybe... if she could get him to sleep, she could sleep. But he's probably been sleeping all day. And he said he was bored... Sigh. Well, there was something else she wanted, and if he was sick, he probably wouldn't try anything. "A cool bath might help."

Anissina often bathed at odd times, though usually in the middle of the night when the soldiers on duty were barely awake. She found them to be the most private and relaxing. Except when baths were instigated by Gwendal in his private hot springs. That was... completely different. The steam was a bit thick, so it wasn't completely simple to identify who'd come inside until she saw the contrast of the shadows and Gisela's voice.

Sliding around the edge of the pool, she moved closer to the intruders. "What have we here? A late night rendezvous?" She smirked, teasing, but continued on. "It seems you had a lot on your plate today, Gisela. Though, if what I've heard is correct, then you should be able to relax for quite a while."

Upon realizing who the other occupant of the bath was, Gisela smiled. "Anissina," she greeted. "Today was quiet hectic. Though it seems rumors are spreading just as quickly as ever. Yes, this particular problem has been permanently dealt with." She didn't look pleased.

Had he met this Anissina? He wasn't too sure, but then again, he found himself not looking too much at her face.

"I see. Since my favorite test subject wasn't available today, I don't have to blame him from trying to hide. But the situation as it is may not be the most favorable, the potential of escalation has been rather averted. I wonder if Ken would be able to be a bit more true to himself..." She trailed of as she noticed Bert's gaze and shot him a look that would cripple Gwendal with fear. Men, honestly! It's just a body!

She stood, lightly smiled at Gisela and moved over to Bert where she grabbed his chin - only a little forceful. Just enough to move it UP. "I don't know how your world is, but women are to be respected and not objectified by simple minded men."

"Can we sit here for a bit?" It was quiet and if he didn't have to run around, that would be better for him. He needed something solid, but probably a lot water too. He walked over to the sink and grabbed a pitcher and filled it with water, but leaned on the edge of the sink for a moment. He hoped Gisela was paying more attention to something else to see him having to rest that way.

“Alright. If you feel up to it.” Gisela had gone to poke around the pantry. She found the bread, which hadn’t gone stale yet, and brought that to the table. There was also some of the soup. She didn’t want Bert eating anything too heavy. Bananas would be good too.

"It'll be easier than carrying everything back. 'sides, it's empty in here." Bert heard Gisela moving around and took a deep breath to keep himself in check. He picked up a few glasses and carefully made his way to the table with the pitcher. He wanted to help her more but ended up having to sit and just settle for watching her bring things in. He felt bad about it, but felt bad in general.

“You have a point.” She gathered up the needed the dishes, and began to serve up the food. She spooned some soup into a bowl and set it in front of Bert. “I hope this does the trick. If you’re feeling better tomorrow, maybe we can do something fun.”
