New Year's Resolution.

Nov 15, 2009 09:58

Well, that went well.

Man, I fail at resolutions. BUT, I have one for next year already.

I am twenty-five and therefore most of my friends are around that age too. You should all have cars and driver's liscences by now or have public transport being your bitch, or even have a job so you can afford cabs. I am not driving anyone anywhere in 2010, ( Read more... )

Go you! I hate it when people rely on others for transport. I hate it when I rely on others and it's not very often that I do (my parents get a call if I haven't driven and it's dark - I'm 25 and now allowed to catch public transport at night *lol* though by the same token, I get calls to pick them up after a night out).

Good luck with the essay!

then why do you do it? i used to pick up a friend regularly, too. but when i realized it's getting out of hand and she never even bothers to offer me money for my, uh, "services", i stopped and told her to look elsewhere. she sulked for three weeks and now everything's just as fine.

it's hard to recognize the difference there. being a good friend and all. but where does it stop? and if your friends were as nice as you are, they wouldn't be taking advantage like that.

I do it because most of the time it's convenient for them and for me and because I view it as something I do for a friend. It's a nice thing to do, to pick someone up because they don't drive. Just so happens the last couple of times it has gone disasterously and put me in a grumpy mood, which is why I'm doing this...

I was exactly the same, not getting lost but driving literally hours out of my way was expected. And if I ever got money it was maybe 3 times with $5. When I realised I had arsehole friends I moved on. I stopped driving them around and it seemed we had nothing in common anymore anyway so I moved on with my life.

Idk what it is, but I always seem to want to help people no matter how much it puts me out. I'm trying to stand up for myself more. So good luck, I hope we can both be strong!

I feel the same! Like, I have a car, I can afford to run it etc. so why can't I help my friends out? But nobody appreciates it anymore, unlike back when I was 17 and a bunch of my friends saw how expensive it was to own/run a car and threw me some petrol money each time yunno?

I'm also going to do the standing up thing. I stand up for myself in the stupidest situations ie retarded online arguments about Britney Spears/the Australian media but never about yunno. important things like this :P

Good luck too bb <3
