I must admit, I've still not completed BotW simply because I'm still finding odd bits and pieces and a part of me wants to get 100% completion because I can't be that far off it (I might have actually completed all the side quests, there's only a few photos to go... and 500 or so Korok seeds). I've actually made it all the way to the top of Hyrule Castle, but then turned round because at the time I still had a good few heart pieces to go (plus there was that last memory to find).
I'm nearly finished with it, but I was obsessed hunting for things once I found a guide (no way I'm gonna track down 900 Koroks alone). I think I've just got the last set of horse gear left. Haven't got any of the DLC, either, because it's not my machine, so it's not up to me. I do plan on getting a Switch eventually and starting all over!
A combination of the Hero's Path and the Korok Mask is helping a fair bit (the former for working out where I've not been - turns out I've missed quite large chunks of the map - and the latter for actually finding the things). It's still a case of lots and lots of exploring and then when the Korok Mask activates it still can take some searching. There's been a couple of times when even after I've triangulated the exact location of the Korok I still have no clue how it's hidden and have had to resort to a guide, and unlike with the Gold Skulltullas way back in OoT I've not yet found any indication of when I've found all the Koroks in a given area.
