[IC Information]

Character Name:
Wade “Deadpool” Wilson
Series:
Marvel Comics
Gender: Male

Age: Early thirties

Species: Human

Appearance:
Deadpool is terribly deformed. His body is a mass of ever-shifting scars and cancerous lumps, changing almost at random from recognizable but scarred to monstrously hideous. He’s bald and has green eyes.

He usually wears his costume everywhere he goes which consists of a form-fitting red bodysuit with black at the shoulders down his dies and legs. His mask is basically featureless except for two white eyeholes and more black areas on the sides of his face. He wears two katanas strapped to his back and a belt with multiple pouches and his symbol on the buckle. He’s been known to where more normal clothes but even then he’s constantly wearing his mask to hide his deformed face.

Personality:
Deadpool is... not like the other kids. The first and foremost thing about him is that he never shuts up. Ever. Whether in battle or just regular conversation he's constantly babbling away in an infuriating stream of sarcastic quips and bizarre random pop culture references. He never seems to take anything seriously, cracking jokes and one-liners in even the most dangerous of situations. Some have speculated that, like Spider-Man, it's all a ploy to frustrate his enemies and lead them to make mistakes. However, none of that's true-- Deadpool just never shuts up.

He's also quite insane and a hired killer which is a combination that always leads to whimsical shenanigans. Also, fire, screaming and doom. Deadpool's personality shifts around quite a bit, sometimes switching between a surprisingly heroic (at least attempted heroic) personality to a homicidal maniac who will kill in retribution for the crime of preferring the Star Wars prequel trilogy. To him, death and war are everyday, regular things and he treats them as such. This means that he responds to all his problems, mundane or otherwise with varying degrees of violence or just by making fun of the source of his trouble until it goes away. His actions in general appear to be random and make little sense at the time, sometimes seemingly done for laughs and other times just... creepy and strange. Turning on a dime from harmless and zany into disturbing psychosis. He also hears voices. In his head. They’re his friends.

However, such is the way of such things, his constant babbling and general madcap persona is a cover for his own loneliness. Deep down, Deadpool recognizes the nightmarish horror that his life has become, that of a twisted, friendless freak caught in a cycle of violence and murder for no reason other than he has nowhere else to turn. He has started to attempt to make a change, seeing the respect and even adoration others get for using their gifts for good purposes and has tried to emulate them with little to no success thus far and usually ends up receiving only further scorn for his actions. These rejections have taken a toll on the mercenary, with him descending further and further into his own madness to cope. He's not sad, everything he does is wild and zany because he's as happy as can be in his life.

Right. Now if only he started believing that himself.

History:
(Needless to say, this will be abridged somewhat. Over fifteen years of comic book history.)
Not much is known about Deadpool’s early life and what he tells seems to change from every story. What is generally the same is that he ran away from his abusive father and alcoholic mother at a young age after which he joined the US military for a brief stint before quitting and going his own way as a mercenary. During these early years, Wade Wilson fancied himself a soldier of honor and took only jobs that he believed were right and spared innocent lives. Despite this, Wilson soon developed a reputation as one of the best hired guns in the world and made more than a reasonable amount of money. He also began a relationship with the women he loved and for the only time in his life things seemed to be going well.

That changed when he was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Not wishing to shackle his girlfriend to living with a dying man, he left her and traveled to Canada to volunteer for the experimental Weapon X program, lured with promises of doing away with his cancer by implanting him with an engineered healing factor. The procedure was a success and Wade’s cancer was arrested but the procedure left him scarred and deformed.

He spent the next few years as a Weapon X operative until during one mission he murdered fellow teammate Slayback. As per the rules of Weapon X, Deadpool was sent to the Hospice. A place supposedly to house “retired” superhuman operatives but which was in reality a research facility run by the sadistic Dr. Killebrew who used the patients for his twisted experiments, a place where patients placed bets to see who would die first and called it the “dead pool”.

It was during this time that Wilson, driven to near death over and over by the experiments, began to form a relationship of sorts with the cosmic entity Death and even falling in love with her. To the point where he began trying to commit suicide to escape the Hospice and be with her, going so far as to taunt Ajax, Killebrew’s assistant. This plan backfired as instead of killing Wade Ajax lobotmized his friend Worm , forcing Wade to kill him out of mercy and at the urging of Death. However, having killed a fellow patient Killebrew ordered Wade’s execution and his heart was torn out. It was at that time that Wade discovered he’d been cursed with immortaility, preventing him from ever being united with his love and came back. Consumed with rage and vengeance, Wade killed Ajax and escaped from Hospice, freeing his fellow patients in the process and taking the name “Deadpool” in the process.

Having escaped, Deadpool went back to mercenary work but never approached it with the same sense of morality he had before. He took any job, no matter who it was for or who the target was, and worked as an enforcer for several criminals including Wilson Fisk, the Kingpin. Soon, however, Deadpool went back to being fully independent and made a few contacts including Blind Al who he kept prisoner in his apartment and a man named Weasel who became Deadpool’s “friend” and tech guy. He also formed a long-standing partnership and friendship with former enemy Cable.

To this day, Deadpool continues his mercenary activities but has started to make an attempt to better himself and leave his assassination days behind him. He took a few legitimate governments jobs, including stealing intel on Skrulls during their invasion of Earth, fighting on the Mutant Registration side and saving New York from symbiote-infected dinosaurs. After a brief stint as a pirate (seriously) Deadpool decided to devote himself seriously to becoming a real hero and started seeking out help and advice on how to achieve that with mixed results, despite his apparently genuine desire to become a better person.

Oh yeah, and somewhere in the middle of it all he ended up in Spooky Jamjar Chicago in a fight to save the multiverse or something. Damnit.

Supernatural Abilities:
Healing factor: Arguably the best in his universe, Deadpool has nearly instant regeneration from anything so long as a piece of his body remains. Even injuries that should be impossible to recover from like being burnt to a cinder and having his head removed. His healing factor is unique as it appears to be at least partially mentally driven and has a history of wounds closing up slower during “dramatic” moments while injuries sustained in “funny” ways vanish almost instantly. This power is also the reason for his deformed appearance as it also effects the cancer cells in his body causing them to grow and form just as quickly as his normal cells.

The healing factor that keeps him going also constantly heals Deadpool’s body to peak human shape and perhaps a little beyond. Deadpool is not as strong or powerful as many of the other supers in his world but all his physical abilities are at Olympian level.

It’s also notable to mention that because of a curse from Thanos because Deadpool kept mackin’ on his chick, he can’t die. At all. Ever. Which makes his healing factor even more handy because who wants to be a severed head rolling around forever, amirite?

This healing factor has also granted Deadpool near-immunity to toxins, sickness and drugs. If they affect him at all it’s usually for a much shorter amount of time than normal, measured in minutes. This also stretches to alcohol, making it pretty much impossible for him to wind up intoxicated.

Finally, he’s practically immune to any kind of mind-control or mind-warping shenanigans. His brain is just an unstable as the rest of him. Essentially the brain that the control was placed on is not the same one it is mere seconds later. It’s also possible that his healing factor senses such mind control as an injury and rapidly works to restore it.

In Chicago his healing factor has generally been reduced. Minor wounds will take seconds instead of vanishing instantly, more serious ones minutes instead of seconds and severe ones days instead of hours. It will still have that mental driven aspect so “comedic wounds” will probably still heal up with cartoonish speed. Likewise his immunities will be less powerful. Drugs, poisons etc... will affect him longer and he’ll be more susceptible to mind influence but the influencer will have some work on his or her hands to maintain it.

Supernatural Weaknesses:
A bit of a strange weakness to have but Wade needs his cancer. The cancer and the endless stalemate battle between it and his normal body is the only thing holding his healing factor in check, without it, Deadpool will “heal” out of control into a massive, grotesque fleshball and possibly explode or something gross like that.

Natural Abilities:

As mentioned above, Deadpool was a mercenary and assassin even before gaining his powers and losing his mind and anybody who underestimates him because of his attitude is in for a nasty surprise.

He is a practiced marksman and expert in many firearms ranging from pistols all the way up to heavy armaments. In addition he’s a master swordfighter and usually uses a pair of katanas he keeps strapped to his back. He’s a master of several martial arts forms as well and has been shown using Tae kwon do, Hapkido, Hwarang Do, several Shaolin Kung-Fu styles ,Wing Chun, Kenjutsu, Karate, Aikido, Ninjutsu, and Jujutsu to name a few. Deadpool is one of the most formidable hand-to-hand combatants in his universe and has stood on even ground with and even beaten some of their best fighters like Wolverine and Taskmaster.

He is extraordinarily skilled in espionage, assassination, infiltration, sabotage, escape artistry and is fluent in several languages including Japanese, Spanish, German and Russian among others.

Possessions:
Deadpool is always armed, carrying a pair of katanas strapped crosswise on his back as well as no less than two pistols at any time. During actual missions he carries many more and has been shown yanking weapons from an... undisclosed location (in his own words, you don’t wanna know). He also carries various knicknacks in the pouches around his belt ranging from watches and timers to grenades to snacks.

His belt buckle also serves as a teleportation device although this will be unreliable at best in Jamjar City aka Chicago.
