I actually like the explanation that the 'invasion' in Signs is a big space-alien frat hazing. "You have to go down to this planet, run around and freak out the natives, and you have to be NAKED." Then after the pledges leave they're all, "Dude, isn't that planet covered with WATER?" "Yeah!" *cue laughing*
